sfz import would be great! And if I remember correctly, all the specs are very open to the public, right?

A (dated but still pretty accurate) copy of the sfz spec is at http://www.rgcaudio.com/sfzformat.htm ... an updated version appears in "Cakewalk Synthesizers: from presets to power user" by Simon Cann.koolkeys wrote:sfz import would be great! EXSC can create soundfont from sfz and vice-versa, I have it but not everyone does.

When converting from SF2 to MMS keep the original sample names.
Now they get numbers, not usefull when combine more mms's into the instruments list.
Why the program always activates the Window's animation?

Sample drag-and-drop to/from VST host(s), basic waveform editing (copy/cut/paste and truncate). Without these features, I will never even consider your "sampler" offering.
If you are going to call it a "SAMPLER", why not give your product SAMPLER FEATURES? Heck, why not really stir things up and release an actual software sampler that can sample and resample AUDIO?
If I sound frustrated, it's because I am. I am making a painful shift back to hardware samplers because these "softsamplers" are so useless for sampling. I've tried Halion, Kontakt, Intakt, Mach 5, all the big ones. They are all terrible - they are not even really samplers.
If you are going to continue to offer this product, I would suggest not calling it a sampler. Because it simply is not a sampler. Wikipedia can clarify this for you:

Have fun with your hardware. But at least show a little respect. This is a first version product with a developer that wants to make it better. If it doesn't beat your precious hardware sampler, then go back to hardware and don't let the door hit you.
But if you have feature requests and would hope that a developer will listen to you, then learn to ask NICELY.
Oh, and I could care less if this actually samples. There are better programs for recording and editing samples. Regardless of how you may be used to working, things have changed. This IS a sampler in today's terms, and a capable one at the price.
Sorry if you're frustrated, but there are better ways to make your point besides being rude.

"bluepride" speaks for me
Maybe too rude, but 100% right. People need/expect certain things from products sold as "samplers".
Maizesoft - there are already scads of these "softsamplers" out there, they are all about the same. How you gonna differentiate yourselves?

Errm, sorry did not mean to offend.
I think it's admirable they (Maizesoft) have something out in this space.. that's great. But Maizesoft needs to aspire to much more.
Money is not an issue. I would pay a lot for a "softsampler" that could do most of what a hardware sampler can do. How many others are there like me out here? Probably thousands..

Fortunately my software sampler (GS3) can actually sample *gasp!* and resample. I've only used the resampling part a few times, and never the sampling part (my soundcard doesnt support it). BUT, i was more pissed that GS3 didnt have time stretching and pitch stretching (which hardware samplers from the 90s had). Yeah, I can completely see bluedad's POV.

I'm not saying that his points were invalid, just his way of expressing them was. I think it's a perfectly good request(despite me not needing it as I stated above) to make.
But I say this. Who knows where they are going to go with this? That's why I started this thread. It's not very often that you get in with a sampler at the beginning. So maybe Maize could make the sampler that others want it to be. Who knows. They might be going in a totally opposite direction.
Maybe they'll poke in here and give a little roadmap of where this is going?

Thanks for all kinds of suggestions and thoughts from everyone.
Maize Sampler is mainly designed to provide people who are interested in making sample-based VSTis with a fast, easy and affordable tool. It's more of a sound developer's tool.
Even though Maize Sampler will be developed further down the road for sure, our suggestion is always to buy a software based on what it is, not what it may become.

Can we have the option to set which keys are used for the keyswitching, instead of just the first octave? I think this will help when making libraries for people with four and five octave keyboards. I have some creative "playable" libraries in planning right now, and they don't all use the whole keyboard. So having that option would be fantastic! Unless I missed where to set it?

Congratulations for the developer, this is a nice idea!
I have a suggestion which might be useful: is there a way to implement transpose function into the exported vsti? This would be useful for those who exported drum kits - I often transpose single shot drums (hihats, toms typically).
One thing would even make this sampler in this price region far superior to the others if it provided an option to assign single drum shots to different audio outputs within the kit - so I don't have to load 4 instances of the same kit just because I want to route drum sounds of the same kit to separate outputs. It would be very convenient
Cheers!

Overall, it is a neat concept, with interesting potential, and not bad for a first version.
Imho, both the sampler as well as propagated vsti's need a filter.
+1 drag n drop samples.
