Zebra2 randomly sounds 'different'

I've had it too on occasion. The patch isn't corrupted, it's just as if something isn't initilised properly in the Zebrengine occasionally when the patch loads.
What causes it, or illustrates the issue, I can't say, and it hasn't been a big enough problem to stop and troubleshoot it. But I'm pretty certain it isn't a random MIDI learn thing.

Perhaps we should ask ourself, "is there any life in there", instead of, "is there any life out there".HunterKiller wrote:mkastrup, here's a perfect name for a new patch: Ghost in the Machine or The Zebra Gremlins.

been noticing this just lately too... using live 608 on osx10.4.10. for me it happened when i stopped transport and restarted at a cue point. symptom was a much brighter and transposed up (thought it was the transpose bug, but that is fixed, no?) - sorry i did not analyze what actually changed in the patch. very random tho.... cannot reliably duplicate. only thing to clear it up is to relaunch the host, so i think it seems like a host <-> zebra issue. note: all midimap text files are empty. again, a very recent thing and has only happened twice (in the same file with the same [and long-used] patch)... only thing that has changed on my system was the 10.4.10 update.

can you explain how/why this happens? i mean, this is a very common and natural thing to do (stop/start transport). can i lock the file so it cannot get written to (i do all my mappings from the host).
also, opening the midimap file in bbedit shows nothing...

Amoeba, when things change due to a playback start or locator repositioning it's in 99.99% of the cases the host that resets the ModWheel or another controller. In earlier versions it was easy to accidentally create a MidiLearn by just a right-click on a knob. Meanwhile one has to select it from a contextual menu.
If it's not that... hmmm... can't say for sure, but a before/after mp3 would help...
Urs
P.S.: Sorry I was a bit grumpy yesterday. I'm drowning in depressing issues...

Today i had one of the clearest cases of Zebra forgetting something within a preset.
I had a Pad which is supposed to be panned in the middle but it came out more like 75% left and 25% right. I tried to reload the patch several times and checked for panning on the synthesis page but that didnt help. Then i turned to the voice mix page and turned on the Pan knob there and that worked, the sound got back to normal and i could reload the patch again several times and the patch would come out normal.
Now when i think of it in many cases the problem when a sound have changed it has something to do with the voice mix page. In one case i had a stacked pad where i was missing an octave from time to time. Reloading patch normally solves it.
So my best bet on the random sound different problem would be to look in the Voice Mix page.
