++ Absolutely essential for me. Course I'm pretty much always daydreaming... :)

I love things that are half heard as well, something from a tv in another room or from a passing car, or sometimes you'll get 2 or more sound sources mixing together and creating something interesting. It seems like when I can't quite make out what's playing my brain fills in part of it. I've started a number of tracks this way - the problem can be remembering your melodic idea, so I often put nonsense words to the melody and sing it repeatedly until it sticks or I can get to an instrument.

Thanks fellas,

I think I'll take you up on some of those ideas. Maybe I'll take out my portable recorder and gather a few sounds too.

Don't mean to hijack your thread and detract from your excellent work blort, I just want to get to the space that your in!

Cheers,
dano

hey! that's quite a metaphor for a LOT of my endeavors in life, folderol!

while I have several, I don't have the ELS...looks quite tasty! Just was noodling with Voyager the other day and discovered the vocoder on it! holy crap its good, but MAN...it eats my CPU right up.
Glad you liked this one Justin!

because you're busy making excellent pluggies and music like THIS :tu:
awesome stuff, dlM!

Glad ya like, dano! and you did NOT hijack the thread- all the advice and observations that you, poly and runny made on the last few posts only echo the way I work as well. I rarely leave the house without my r09. (used to be a panasonic microcassette...still works and love the "effect" but it's for shit when ya want a "real recording" ;))
so yeah- no hijack here. It's ALL related to the one thing- soaking in, letting it marinate (or for some of us- "fester"...) a while and then seeing what can be pulled out and used in a ditty.

ftw- I'm looking fwd to Omnisphere too! trying to be good and save my pennies, but folks like dlM keep coming out with new goodies and my willpower is easily...misguided...sometimes :hihi:

Thank you all for listening and taking the time to tell me 'bout it!

This is going to get a lot of airtime on my playlist. Love it!

thank you, core! :D

I wondered if core would check in on this song. This one is kind of similar to a chill song he just posted a day or two ago.

Very nice.

Are we talking about core's "playground" ?
Because that song rocks.

blortblort, remember when I sent you that PM intended for bobsled long ago?
I was just semi-sheepishly thinking about that today.
I really wish we could meet, musically, in our original idioms and jam.

Fiendly bump for those who missed this gorgeous piece.

Just listened to it another few times and I just love to get lost in the chords in the second part (which I guess is the intro you had first). The first part of this track reminds me a lot of some Boards of Canada.
