Boo... only "samples", not audio parts... :? :phones:

Hmm, I'm having trouble with getting a MultiSampla with large Ogg files to trigger. If I use the virtual keyboard in either MultiSampla or Piano Roll, the sample triggers okay. If I pencil in a note or play my MIDI keyboard, nothing happens.
Are you sure your the part's target is set to that multisampla?

Eventually please send me a musession.

The track's target is the rack containing the MultiSampla; the rack also has focus for MIDI events. Do I need to explicitly target the MultiSampla?

You can easily resize the window, and of course that position/size is preserved inter-session.
and every window takes up the same space which makes things a bit difficult - tabs or a way to have more than one window open would be more useful
You can open as many plugin windows as you want, also the Modular Plugin Area is in a separate window, and the Rack Desk can also be in a separate window (right-click in the background of the rack desk (i.e. at the very right of the rack desk))

So do you mean you would want the note editor and audio lab in a separate window too?
It would be nice if automation editing/drawing was more than just straight lines but no curves or ability to edit envelopes smoothly.
That's quite high on the whishlist. But MU.LAB can only evolve step by step.
Also can I kill the metronome and countin for good somewhere? (Not just deleting it from the project everytime I make one)
Huh?

If you don't want the metronome, just switch it off, no?

Besides this, note that if you save a session as new.musession in your mu.lab folder, that session is loaded everytime you do "New Session", so you can make your favorite default setup.
No - if you switch it off it still counts in

I could delete it and save as a default but imho it would be easier and less drastic if the off turned it off fully in the first place

Yes the note editor would be better as another window or ideally a tabbed window rather than having to close it before doing other things - I'd like to have it open alongside what else I'm doing

No, should work.

Once loaded it doesn't matter whether it's a aiff, ogg or wave file.

Could you narrow this problem down and eventually send a musession + ogg file which demonstrates this.

The metronome has 3 states:

-> Off (=gray)
-> On (=green)
-> On when recording (=red)

Are you sure you're setting it off?

I see what you mean.

That's input for future brainstorms.

Yes even with it off (grey) it still clicks a count-in - very distracting

Ok, see what you mean.

Whatever the state of the metronome switch, it will sound during countdown, because counting down in pure silence would be weird, no?

So maybe you just don't want a countdown.

If you don't want a countdown, then right-click the record button for the record options and set Count Down to 0.

(now i noticed that in this case there is still 1 single metronome hit, that's a bug to be fixed)

I just think off should mean off - maybe there should be a 4th option for people who want it only during count in but not recording. I do like to pause a few moments before starting to play but just to get in tune with myself - I find loud clicks while doing so breaks my mood and concentration (especially as I don't make beat based music)

- I don't see what's strange about wanting a silent count-in, many people have their own time and don't need external supports anyway

Hmm... I think I've narrowed it down to me setting the low velocity to 127... ;) Although I could have sworn I'd set it back to 0.

I agree with you, musically.

Will think about how to integrate this aspect.

For now, note that you can right-click the metronome -> Edit Metronome Sound, then you can quickly mute the metronome by toggling the green 'process' button at the top of the metronome patch editor.

This setting is saved with the session; And you can also use the new.musession tip for new sessions; So i think this is 99% covered.

But i'll keep the note on the whishlist, i understand your request.

+1

maybe a fourth option, yes, or just off if set to off - but in any case having a metronome during recording, when all you need is a simple count-in, is a huge pain in the ass.

edit: bollocks, see post below

edit: nonsense - it was posting bollocks - it works exactly as it should - if the metronome is off then the count-in is still working...

you could introduce a nice new feature: a recording-delay, where the duration (in seconds) can be specified (so 0 would mean no delay) - this is also very nice e.g. if you have to run to a microphone stand after pressing record to record your own voice.

Post

I think we just need an extra metronome state. Then all situations are covered. Jens, that delay can then be done by setting e.g. a 4 bar countdown without the metronome. If you need more time, increase the number of countdown bars.
