Hi gang

I know this flies in the face of "efficiency" and trends in customer support, but the fact is this: we put a premium on phone support as it is easier and faster for everyone to try to address issues over the phone rather than through email. If you don't hear back soon, please do call us so we can help you!

As for the recovery / restart ISSUE, usually this is caused by one of the following:

1. There is a corrupt patch (solution is to hold down the MULTI button while booting) that Receptor doesn't like.
2. You have some software in a preset that doesn't instantiate nicely with other plugins.
3. The PCI audio card has become loose as a result of the unit getting whacked, dropped, fallling on the floor, or otherwise knocked about.

Of particular note is the fact that so many units are being transported in small portable racks (that are prone to being knocked over while sitting on end) that we now install some foam tape above the PCI card on the frontmost corner of the unit. Depending on the vintage of your unit, you may or may not have this little piece of foam installed.

The foam tape prevents the PCI card from ever rotating out of place (yes, it is already screwed in to the back panel , but Receptors can be subjected to alot of abuse and we need to be able to tolerate that abuse!). If the card is partially dislodged, it can cause the Recovery mode / Restart problem you are describing. Definitely worth taking off the cover, checking that the PCI card (and its cable to the audio board) are firmly seated.

We've also seen this problem in bands where there is a lot of pyro on stage or heavy use of smoke machines... if the unit is near where the residue from smoke machines or pyro is being ignited, the PCI card slot can get fouled and cause the restart problems. Not a big deal, a simple squirt of Deoxit 5 typically fixes it (miracle in a can, that stuff).

Of course Recovery / Restart could be the sign of a bigger problem which would most likely be a bad disc drive, but those problems are extremely rare...

Hopefully this will help...

All the best
