Can you be more precise; it would probably help Liqih considerably to know which Athlon. The first Athlons date back to 1999, and the subfamilies have had differing capabilitities over the years, including a significant change to 64-bit architectures in 2004. Y'see, I'm so darned iggernoraunt I didn't even know there was more than one kind of AMD Athlon, and I'd never heard of CPZ.
Here's the full readout from CPZ. Hope this helps.

I don't know what any of that means, but that's all the program tells me. I hope it helps! By the way, I was sent a new version of the Harptime DLL but unfortunately it didn't change a thing. I DID, however, discover WHY the software freezes. Whenever I put a note in, the processor spikes to 100% and sits there for the duration of the note plus 2 seconds or so. Doesn't matter how long or short the note, the processor spikes to max for the note's length plus 2 seconds (approx.)
If you play a whole piece using Harptime, the processor is SO maxed out by the end of it that it just sits there on 100%. Sometimes, after a while, it calms back down again and you get your comp. back. Sometimes it just stays on 100% forever and you end up pressing RESET after 30 minutes or so.
The guy wants me to rephrase my review which I would willingly do if I could make it work. The thing is, I can only put in a review what I discover when using a piece of software on my system. I've only got the one computer. At the moment, the review is an exact reflection of what I've found when running the software on my computer, I can't base it on what happens on anyone else's computer. As nothing's changed on my computer, I can't yet change my review of the full version.
The new fun version, however, just about works. You still get the 100% spikes every time you put a note in, but the actual freezing time is barely noticeable compared to the paid-for version. I didn't review the funtime version so sure, I'm happy to say it works fine. I don't know what the probs. with the full version are but I'm happy to do my best to help sort them out.

would you admit, you opened this thread, after having received a pm from me as a reaction to your 'review'. I told you about the NuSofting forum and how to get in contact via email. I think, the 'review' was written, because you needed help. Now you've got help and in a while, Harptime will work properly on your system.
Please put this 'review' away, because it will prevent people from trying Harptime, which is in no way justified; it works on a lot of pcs and macs for more than 5 years.

The definition of 'review' is: To examine with an eye to criticism or correction. If all you want people to say is 'This is brilliant, perfect, is the greatest thing I've ever come across' etc., then fine, dump mine. Just keep the happy happy ones.
I reviewed it as I found it to be then, and as I currently find it to be. The sounds are good. It makes my system freeze. I cannot judge it by what it does on others' systems, only by what it does on my own. The fun version is better, it still causes the 100% spikes every time you put a note in, but it doesn't freeze things up for more than half a second. The BIG freeze prob. is still with the full version.
That is an honest statement as to how I have found the plug-in to be on my system. I have no way of testing it on any other system. So as things are right now, I stand by my words. If anything happens to change how it works on my system, thus making my original review false, THEN I will change it.
You can only review something by how YOU, YOURSELF find it, not by how others may have found it. Every review is subjective by definition. That is how the plug-in currently works for me.
The sounds themselves are, indeed, good. The freezing is the only problem.

your 'review' is simply misleading, because it was written in anger and fear. Now you have support and several people have tried to help you.

Dear Hivkorn and Mellotronaut.
I can't make QSE work with ASIO drivers, if you choose them you get no sound coming out of anything. So I can't think of a way to try HarpTime out with ASIO drivers because QSE is the only actual music making program I have.
Mellotronaut, I thank you and all the people who've tried to help me very much indeed. But how can I, in all honesty, do a review saying 'This is a wonderful plug-in which works absolutely perfectly for me and I love using it' when, right now, for whatever reason, that isn't the case? I admit to there being a bit of frustration in the review, but I based all the marks I gave everything on how well they worked for me, personally, because that's all I could do. As neither the first nor the second full version DLL made any difference, the Fun version just about works but there's still odd hiccuppings and pausings in playback in the harp bits - sometimes you get a good 'run' and it plays the piece, sometimes there's a couple of spikes and hiccups along the way - I can't in honesty change anything in the review.
I mean, if you bought a new car and it broke down every 10 miles, that's what you'd have to say about it. Maybe 500 other people bought the same brand of car and it worked fine for them. Great. That's what they would say about it. But you couldn't say 'this car drives like a dream' because, for you, that would not be the case. So your review would differ from that of other people.
My review seems to be based on a minority experience. I'm sorry about that. But it is still my experience of the software, the review's a collection of honest statements, not enlarged upon in any way, just totally from my own experience of using HarpTime and, as such, I stand by it. If someone makes a suggestion that leads to my experience changing, I will write a new review based on my changed experience.
My experience is, at present, unchanged. I stand by my review.

Are you also reviewing your computer system??
I hope you can solve your issues and start having fun with a wonderful instrument. If you can't get it to perform satisfactorily, maybe get the refund and move on to other things.
