If you mean you can only use 2 instances of ACE and only on draft mode, something is wrong with your CPU...
2 Instances, with nearly same presets, with 2 stack, draft-modes, poly - many, but on both instances with big chord-melos.. up to 8 notes at the same time... i think it thrills my cpu because the many notes :D

So with normal usage, normal-mode and not so big chord-melos i can use more instances, sure, but if the melodies getting bigger(and need up to 8 notes at the same time) it will be difficult :D - with a really modern computer :P
But syou can be angry with the ace, he sounds to good for this

Don't get me wrong brother. I think it's very clear why Urs' stuff is so well respected, but a good rating from CM means nothing imo. Virtually everything gets 8-10/10.

The fact that so many paying users rate his VSTs so highly should mean more to him than some sychophantic ad revenue hungry rag.

That's coz they don't wanna upset nobody hehe although i would have personally give ACE 11/10 :D That's my independent review score of course but i see what you mean mate. :D

He's right; CM is great for its free sounds/vsts though but these magazines have so many different awards and rating objectives everything seems to make its way through to the top.... how many more times they can cover "effects and what they do" I don't know.

I haven't tried ACE yet; I think I should

Congrats Urs :D

TwoToneshuzz wrote:Yes ACE is unbeatable in the sound quality department and also the UI is simply beautiful in my opinion.. The only problem I'm having is getting it to mix well with my other synths, it's sound so rich and detailed, and lush that all else sounds thin by comparison.. Oh well, to make a complex arrangement with ACE I guess I'll have to have a few computers linked together...

Ace is a window into the future sound of synthesis...

Well in fact something like that has been already possible for years in SonicCore (ex creamware) products. ACE filter behavior and sound quality reminds me very much to SonicCore Minimax and Modular4, albeit SC is a bit different but same range +- sonic quality. Mind you i am not debating DSP over Native.

I just want to point out that something like this is already being done for years but in not-acceptable-technical-solution to everyone. I am glad that URS did it finally in Native and in very acceptable way (price is more then fair).

That also speak a bit about general public perception/delusion caused by marketing machinery of what is quality and when it is available. Note that here i am not pointing to KVR in general.

Congratulations URS!!

Hehe, re: magazine reviews: They nowadays only review things they like. Thus all the things that score 0-7 points are simply not in the magazines. There's so much stuff, so why bother?

I often hear the suspicion that magazine scores rise proportionally to advertisement expenses. That's of course hard to believe for me as I havn't had any ad in any magazine ever (they are beyond my budget...), and my stuff has hardly ever underscored, yet been reviewed quite frequently :)

Re: Scope modular, I got word that HZ loves it, but it really is a different thing. It's not my cup of tea.

"u-he lego synth" lolol Urs that's well funny great work !!

10 out of 10 is ten out of ten. Can't see any reason why I should doubt the judgement of the reviewers in CM.
ACE already had 25 out of 25 in my book, and that is even better! :hihi:

Congratz Urs!

Hehe, just in time for the discussion I got this email:
Lee of CM wrote:Hey Urs,

The mag is out now, so I can reveal the scores: ACE got 10/10 and all four awards: Editor's Choice, Innovation, Performance and Value. This is especially impressive because we recently revised our scoring system so that it's harder to get a high score. ACE is definitely taking software synthesis to a new level :-)

(By the way, I love Uhbik-G, too!)

Cheers,

Lee.
