Hi robenestobenz,

Indeed these are just workarounds nothing more nothing less. But may be useful to some users in the meantime.

Thanks for posting the 'workaround'.

Although not having any editing facility (and presumably also not able to read formatted text, eg a Wordpad .wri file), this could certainly be useful for storing any 'fixed' information in situations where portability/integration is important.

I'll probably also continue using 'notes' plugins (eg VstNotes).
Which reminds me - there seems a bit of 'quirky' behaviour with those type of plugins (which MU.LAB sees as Effects). For example. if I insert VstNotes into a Rack that also contains (say) a piano vst, then as long as VstNotes is in the top slot the piano will behave normally, but if VstNotes is inserted below the piano it seems to stop the flow through the Rack, and the piano is not heard. One of the other 'notes' plugins (I think it was TrackPAD) does the same thing, but the other way round - ie things are only ok if it is placed after the instrument vst.

Because of this, the idea of having separate VstNotes' plugged into various Tracks/Racks is not feasible for me - so I get by with having one or more instances of it, in a dedicated 'Notes' Rack.

Of course, that problem doesn't arise if your MUX workaround is used instead (!)

Hi All,

I am now joking, but I have managed to embed text into a sequence.

See below.

If you attach a VSTi to the sequence and add some reverb it actually plays.

WARNING this is a joke.

But if it does catch on remember you heard it here first.

Maybe i should design a paint app, then you can make music with it :D

(joking joking joking of course :))

Make it dance as well, and then you'd have "all singing, all dancing Paint (the holy grail of graphics programs)".
I'm definitely joking; even being a bit silly (!).
Back to work now :-(

Hi Jo,

I think you have already done that. It does pictures too.

So when we get writers block we can draw a picture send it through a VSTi and may be it might sound OK.

Hi All,

I do not use lyrics as I am more the instrumentalist type of chap.

But as a workaround for lyric writers for now, how about this:

a) Create a new track
b) Set the track to "Set Target Module Per Part"
c) Rename this track to "Lyrics"
d) Put the track above the others so it is the first track (top track)

OK now write your musical tracks.

Now create a new sequence the length you need and rename this sequence to your actual lyrics for that length of music. (These sequences go in the "Lyrics" track).

Here is an example:

<I woke up> <I looked outside> <It started to rain> <oh what a pain>

OK each chunk of lyric is the "name of a sequence". In this case we have 4 sequences and 4 lines of lyrics.

As these sequences are named with the actual lyric chunk you can reuse each lyric for each verse etc.

I know this is not great but at least you can have the lyric above the musical bits of the song that start on the same bar etc. Or at the very least you can put lyrics into your session in the correct order etc etc.

Hope the above makes sense.

At least you can now store your lyrics in the song and they will be close to the musical phrase each lyrical line is meant for.

Bottom line is rename your "Lyric Track" sequences with the actual lyrics.

May be of use or a daft idea you each decide.
