Aside from that, another name-dropping with SQ8L
A lot of nice ones have been mentoned, but I have to agree with SQ8L. It is one synth that I would surely buy if it was released commercially.

When IS it going to be released commercially? :?

no problem, it's an easy mistake to make to type in a wrong font size so no-one can read it!

Absolutely. It and MiniSID are the ONLY two freeware synths I use regularly and I'll definitely buy it if an upgraded version is released commercially. Both of these sound much more hardware-like when oversampled, btw.

There are many good freeware synths. I really like Synth1, SQ8L and Shortcircuit! Oatmeal and Voyager are really nice too!

kilon wrote:Actually Crystal, I am surpised because its a very close competitor to Absynth. Too bad , its author no longer updates it , cause this synth could easily evolve to the ultimate freeware synth.
Instead it evolved into the ultimate payware softsynth - Omnisphere :)

Elektrostudio Analog Pack

Elektrostudio Analog Pack was developed using:
Jeff McClintock-SynthEdit and SE SDK 2
Hermann Seib - Minihost Open Source Code.
David Haupt - MIDI ControlMeister 1 & 2 (All synths), DBtoVoltage & VoltageToDb (Or2v).
Christian W Budde - DAV Phaser (eSLine) & DAV Chorus (SxMJune).
technically they were designed to be commercial so yes i can't believe they are free :) some of my favorites.
