In one of the recent versions the solo / mute shortcuts have become a bit unresponsive when applied to tracks, sometimes needing to be pressed twice if you are quick. It might be the double click stuff... basically, although as soon as you click on a track the focus rectangle appears, you have to wait a moment (about 1/3 of a second -- roughly the time used by the double click algo IIRC) before solo/mute will work.

You're right. Unfortunately there is not an immediate quick fix for this, and on OSX it even needs a rewrite of a certain function in the OSX abstraction layer because OSX's 'TrackMouseLocationWithOptions' does not support keyboard events while the mouse is being tracked 
(which is the case while detecting double-clicks). Anyway i'm convinced it should be finetuned. So it's on the wishlist for the next main update.
