Never looked into them. Do they cost money? Might just be easier to upgrade my hosting if so...

No probably not. I feel quite strongly that presets are not appropriate for compressor and EQ type plugs. Especially presets named "Acoustic Guitar" or "Female Vox" or whatever: these are just as (more?) likely to lead you astray as to actually help.

After all, analog hardware compressors don't have presets. Patch memories were developed for synthesizers, and the only reason our plug-in comps and EQs have them is because they now share the same formats.

Of course a reverb unit can benefit greatly from presets. And if a multi-band compressor is sufficiently complex then a good set of 'starting point' presets can be a great time saver... however, I designed the L3V3LL3R and the X3 version to be as simple and quick to use as possible: L3V3LL3R-X3 has fewer parameters than many single band compressors! So I don't think starting point presets would be useful in this case, sorry.

However, I might be perusaded to make a tutorial video if there was enough interest...

I'd be interested ... :hyper:

I would dig a tutorial of x3, for sure. 1 module is easy enough to hear, but with 3 my ears trip up.

as for box.net - it's a free online storage/folder service that let's you arrange folders, upload/download, etc. The only real drawback is that there is no direct linking for the free versions. The link you get takes people to the box site to download, but (unlike mediafire, etc) it is a crisp clean page with no ads. I highly recommend it as it's been rock steady reliable for me for 3 years. The links look like:

..what goes around comes around..

No, they are free and easy to use. THose hosting services are quite handy.
You can even create 2 accounts, and set, for example, Box;net as mirror#1, and MediaFire as the senod mirror link.

Yes, i get your point, and i'm very comfortable with my hardware compressors without presets, but in the case of a multi-band comp, having "starting point" presets can both be a time saver, and be a great starting point (and help to understand better some audio engineering tricks). In some situations, i use the presets like i would use a PDF manual or a video tutorial, it showcases what the plugin can do, where it can excels, it makes its design goal more obvious, etc...
And for any multiband plugin, i'm quite a preset friend, even i always tweak them to fit my audio.

... Oh, and, if i dare :maybe a PDF with some hints and explanations about what makes this plugin specific and different (sound-wise, feature-wise, tweaking-wise) might be a worthwhile replacement to presets ? ;)

Ok, I replaced all the direct links with box.net links instead. Lets see if my site makes it to the end of the month...

(I'm going to leave the donate button where it is however ;))
