Was very impressed with soneq so bought this no demo. So glad I did. Fast and intuitive haven't even looked at the manual yet. Spread it across a mix in progress and the low end tightened up beautifully. Clicked the loudness button on the buss plug and really liked what it did to my lows and highs, but probably not something i'd use for everything.
Love the meter. I've always had the bad habit of raising up levels bit by bit till everything's a mess. I think the visual of a needle going into the red when I go over -18db will be great for my gain stage discipline. Filters are nice to have first in an insert too. I used to spread bx cleansweep around. This will replace it but I will miss that joystick.
All in all superstoked! Well done sonimus!

Edit: Have bought it/tested it. All I can say  - for $39 this is a NO BRAINER.

Were there sound clips posted earlier?
As I wrote above my poll is not time limited....

So please wait for the Demo or look at gearslutz.com, there are testing files already from glad users.

It"s a no brainer... adds magic glue to my digital playground, I'm very happy that I waited before going for anything else.
I'm using the AU beta ... no problems. Thanks very much Mr P:)

I bought it yesterday. I'm absolutely loving it!

I've tested it out on a few projects I've already done and some rough multi track mixes from my band's practice. This thing sounds awesome! It's subtle but not too subtle.

I'm using my software mixer's trim knobs a lot more with this to get the saturation in the sweet spot. I think this will help a lot with proper gain staging, which I haven't always done.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I love the meters. Wish I had a large monitor that would be able to display 50 to 60 of these in a row. Maybe Magix will license the technology and build this into the mixer. :D Hey, a guy can dream right?

I bought Satson yesterday i'm just about to make my first track with it so at the moment i've not taken part in the pole.

I just thought you should all know that lol

PS It would be cool if somebody would make a logic/satson video on youtube so i can see how to use this plugin to its full potential as i've never used a console and spent the last 10 years in the digital/DAW domain.

This is a track I posted in the Music Cafe today:

This is the same track with a Channel on every channel and a Buss on the Master (I just got it and I was excited to use it):

Just putting it up for comparison's sake.

I've gotta say, listening to the clips on Gearslutz, I'm finding Satson doesn't destroy the hihats like it did in the VCC clips I've heard. I'm not sure if VCC was just being driven too hard in the samples I heard, or I'm just sensitive to how the saturation sounds on high frequency content (makes hats sound crunchy not crisp if that makes sense), but I'm not hearing that in the Satson clips so job well done.

No offense, but I never used SonEQ and didn't know anything about your work, so I kind of expected Satson to suck and thought it would have only been rated highly by people trying to convince themselves that it sounds good because it's inexpensive. Now that I've heard it, I'm embarrassed to admit my ignorance. I'm waiting for the demo version, but I think there's a good chance you have a sale.

Wow. This plugin is going to change my mixing. I produce dance / house and have inserted Statson in 2 projects i'm working on now. It does a nice job of glueing and bringin some sound awareness in the overall mix (for lack of a better word). It indeed works the lower end of the mix and so far i like what it does.

I'm not completely clear on how hard the input must hit the Satson channel, or what the proper way to use the Gain knob is but i'll find the sweet spots soon enough.

For now i use the Channel Gain to get the signal around clip and it seems to give the best result.

If you have any working tips, please post!

Wow.

Can someone explain a bit more? Am I supposed to not drive Satson into the red or is this actually what you are supposed to do? It should be the first insert, so anything after that in the chain, like EQ will give you a different gain structure again, no?

Demo! :hihi:

Noone should drive the plug-in hard unless it's needed to round up transients while gaining more saturation and punch. Just keep your meters below 0VU, it doesn't even matter if it's close to it or not. SatSon has a quite good headroom even above 0VU (yes, the plug-in really starts clipping when it's hit real hard... like +4dBVU or more, seriously). If you need to get that "full" sound out of something don't stop, go all the way up until the clip led starts glowing, things sound pretty interesting up there. Experiment, have fun :)

I put VCC channel, Nebula Consoles Inputs and SatSon Channel (not at the same time, of course) at the end of the chain since that's what seems more common to me, simply because it's a console channel what we're talking about here, a console channel with a Gain knob which should replace your tracks volume faders (well, not entirely since I don't use the "Output Compensation" feature and I use my track volume faders as output trims). Don't be afraid to explore every possible way of working with these plug-ins (e.g., with SatSon I tend to drive the Buss plug-in really hard on drums, something like +6dBVU heh... not all the time but when it works, IT WORKS :) ).

Post

Anyone else uses multiple Buss plugin instances? I tried it and it can sound interesting. Seems weird though, as every Buss instance gets the complete mix from all the Channels. I mean, you can't just route a select group of Channels to a select Buss.

Just thinking out loud.

Just found this thread. Sounds very interesting. Mac gets 64bit and not Windows? That's gotta be a first. That makes me sad. If there was x64 VST I'd probably be clicking the by link right now. For $39 that would be a no-brainer.
