The worst thing is, I have to learn a new and terribly long password. Even though I think they never even saw any password.

Hmmm ... never understood those hack-kiddies.
Really I'd just call the police and tell them what you know. If those people have to pay a penalty, they'll go for another hobby in the future.

It's actually really not all that bad. Thankfully it happened about a week before our new website goes live. The whole thing will be much more secure!

Absolutely. I'm very glad that these guys had no access to any critical data.abstractcats wrote:New siteUrs wrote:It's actually really not all that bad. Good to hear its not as bad as it could have been, but still must be unnerving to see something you've worked many years to build threatened.
I have been threatened some time ago, hence I removed anything from the server that deals with serial numbers and stuff years ago. The phpBB they hacked in was nearly empty, and the SQL injection method they used doesn't give them any access to databases. We will however review our upcoming customer support tool (may store email addresses and names...) in order to prevent any possible leaks.

Good to hear. I am feeling quite excited about the forum there based on what's been said of it so far.Urs wrote:It's actually really not all that bad. Thankfully it happened about a week before our new website goes live. The whole thing will be much more secure!
