The same for me in Cubase. Not just for this knob, but for many.
Anyway, interesting synth. It has potential, but it has to be finished, obviously. Sound is decent. I'm a little afraid that to many options can make it hard to use for most people. After tweaking/complicating :) my E8400 goes up to 35-40% with it. 2 Quivers and goodbye CPU. In this field it surely needs a further optimization. I also agree with the GUI and preset management remarks.

Thanks for sharing the beta! Hope you'll make a great synth!

Good luck ralphb!

I've tried it in Zen.

- it doesn't return the correct preset name when calling getProgramName (it always returns "Default").
- it doesn't call updateDisplay() when switching presets.
- it crashed on me after browsing through some presets.

+1 for knobs updating in realtime. I definitely feel like that's important for intuitive tweaking.

Also, in Renoise 2.7.2, When changing parameters of a wosc, there is a delay while the screen freezes and the output stutters. This happens when changing any parameter besides the tuning knobs at the top. (EDIT: This is only with the Paderizer on.)

But other than that, this is already shaping up to be an excellent synth. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Not sure if this is going to be any helpful, but it crashed Reaper quite soon when twiddled with the connection matrix. However, the faulting module was ntdll.dll, not quiver.

Hey, thanks for the open beta and nice synth.
I hope this GUI will remain as an option. It's as simple as I want it to be. Personally, I can see the future of it, even with a Zebra around.
It seems fairly stable for me.
Here are my thoughts:

-Currently, the built-in sound rely too heavily on effects. More work needed on the raw sound.
-The knobs and the general GUI usage are sluggish, and should need mousewheel support
-Oscillator OPs need a recategorize, I suspect you're planning to add even more, and it feels a little cluttered even now.
-Gain issues are too common.
-Easier removal/bypass of certain modules
-Option to bypass of the graph, and there are some parameters not updating on it
-More optimizations to the resource usage

That's all for now, I hope you'll find them useful!

Thank you all for the feedback.

I just uploaded beta 8:

http://straightarrow.dk/quiver/download/

It fixes two superficial things I could do quickly:

1) A lighter colorscheme (not reflected in website screenshots)
2) The Lua error popup reported by several people is gone.

I'll follow up on the rest of your feedback as quickly as I can. :)

Sidenote: Support for alternate tunings would be reaaaaallly great :D

Looks good, just downloaded and will take a look this evening once the kids are in bed :)

Perhaps some XY pads in the perform section.
The preset volumes are uneven. Some are really louder.

Quiver looks to have some great potential. I
think the new lighter GUI is much more usable
and I like the variety of options provided.
The main things I have noticed is the previously
mentioned glitching when trying to change
controls while notes are sounding and that the
MIDI assignments are in hex rather than CC
numbers. (Perhaps the option to choice between
the two might be helpful, as my Peavey 1600x
sends in the hex format). Anyway, best of luck
with the development of Quiver.

It's still there for me. [Cubase 6.0.2 Mac, OS X 10.6.8] I simply instantiate Quiver and switch to the Modulation page, and the alert appears immediately.
(sounding nice though ;) )
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

... Interesting. Is anybody else getting the same result?

Thanks!

vic_france, did you delete the previous version ? In FL9 I had to delete the old version, before I saw the change in GUI and consequently the "The Lua error popup" has gone. Working well now.

Works well for me too. No error popups.

My bad  On Mac, it is much more "forgiving" to overwrite a file, but I had completely forgotten that I'd placed the first beta inside a subfolder.. so in fact both were present!.
Deleted the old one now, and, indeed, it seems fine now. Sorry for the false alarm ;).
