this is very frustrating - no joy at all in loading samples.

Any chance of adding a file selector Andreas (he asks in a rather cheeky fashion :) )

XP + Tracktion + Slifty = Working.

While the DnD bit is neat, I can certainly imagine some hosts not really into handling focus properly.

hello scuzzphut

its possible that there are problems with slifty
in fruity ... is there someone who got it
working in that host?
i havent tested myself with the latest versions...
are you using the latest fruity loops (Studio)?
Il download the demo and try when i have some time..

one thing you could try: before switching the window
to a win-explorer to grab the files, make sure you
click on slifty, just somewhere on its gui...(so that
the slifty-window is 'active' (and not the main
host one) ...

hello Macmod

sorry, most probably not...
it would be quite tedious to port slifty, and also, i dont have a mac and so far nobody has donated one... :(

hm , after reading the former posts properly i realised youre also talking about cubasis...
it worked in all cubase versions i tested along
the way, but cubasis was not one of them...
so no idea for now either...
except the thing to try i said before...
about the fileselector: maybe...

I'm on an admittedly crappy machine at the moment (not my DAW - w2k), but I had issues with the 'non-nagged' version of slifty in FLStudio and the latest energyXT standalone. I could get the first wav loaded in, but subsequent wav files had assignment slots with no names or waveforms. I couldn't delete them and eventually everything crashed.

Last night on my actual DAW (WinXP), I only plopped this into Tracktion and it worked very well. Not sure if this is indicative of a problem, or just crappy machine vs. good machine.

In the past I've found that Cubase was more forgiving of VSTs. For instance, Absynth 1 managed to trash every single cubase project I had it in, although it worked well in other hosts... but that's a whole different thread ;)

I can load samples & I can trigger the sample slots from my sequencer (FLS & eXT).

What I can't seem to be able to do is trigger a Slifty sequence.

How do I trigger different Slifty sequences?

You can't trigger only a sequence. But, what you can do is trigger entire VST presets, and have each preset assigned a different sequence by default.

For instance, go to the PM mode. Click the Pattern-Nr. button to turn it on. Use MIDI Learn to assign the first VST preset to one note, the second preset to another note, and the third preset to one more note.

Now, make sure that each of those presets is identical, but in the first preset set it to play sequence 00, in the second have it play sequence 01, and assign the third, sequence 02.

This way, each time Slifty receives the assigned note, it will switch presets (consequently switching assigned sequences, too).

Hope this helps, (and made sense) :)

But I can't even get the sequence to make any sound. :(

Inside FLS, Slifty's sequencer shows progression - but there's no indication on the sample pad, nor is there any sound from the sequence.

If I play notes (60, 62, 64, 65 for example), the sample for that slot gets played - but still no sequence. I can enter a sequence in FLS's piano roll, but that's not the same thing.

Inside eXT, I don't even get any indication that Slifty's sequencer is doing anything what-so-ever. I can still trigger each sample via eXT's MIDI part or Arp, but Slifty's sequencer doesn't do squat.

What am I missing?

FYI,

I use Cakewalk stuff for my main sequencing, and their VST adaptor gives an error message that says there is an error at the "failure point" called "Close Editor". When I try to drag & drop files into the wav view in Sonar 3 Producer, nothing happens. However, when I tried to drag & drop into Project 5, it worked... got some sick sounds and I'm pretty impressed, but hope I can get it to work in Sonar...
