Soundquality has never been an issue with the best SE stuff, because the best stuff uses custom coding or 3rd party modules (The Chris Kerry stuff is really nice IMO). Even some of the freeware SE stuff is really good, like GTG synths, and HG Fortune, TubeOhm (anti-transpirant!), etc...
The other bane of synthedit are the "me too" generic synths created from the default parts. These almost always sound very bland and are all pretty much the same as eachother. If there was a way of filtering those out of the KVR database, I'd jump on it!
Don't get me wrong, it's great that SE got these people making their "my first synth" and maybe some of them went on to greater things, and used it as an educational experience... but none of that helps the sound of those plugins
