Reason fans are a very vocal bunch. It's quite a cult thing for some of them. And Re is bringing them out of the closet and onto other forums.

It's actually hilarious - after years of saying they didn't want plugins, some of these same Reason fans are on every forum demanding them yesterday! What a bunch of hypocrites, lol.

But they will probably pipe down in a while. I'm pretty sure most of the Re buyers will realise there's no money left in the bank before very long ;)

I've been a member here for years myself, but haven't posted in quite some time.
Used Live since V1.0, Reason since V2.5 and now back using Logic but also use Renoise and quite a bit of hardware.
The reason for laying low here, Harmony-Central, even the Props forum is that it's that same tired old shit all the time, the irony being that just as many people play as many stupid games in here as they do everywhere else.
Heaven knows I hear the same sort of circular arguments over analog synth x vs synth y or why digital sucks and how hardware is better at everything than software (which we all know is another bullocks argument).
Personally I don't want a bunch of VST Re-ports and would rather see new devices created specifically for the format over content from other hosts being used in Reason 6.5 (I have rewire for a Reason and I'm quite happy to use it).
For example a slew of modular synthesis rack components for building custom modular patches from scratch in a Combinator would be a good place to start and thankfully people like Synapse Audio have been (IMHO) pretty much on the money with the Filter, Chorus, Ring Mod and Vintage EQ.
That said is it any different to being on a Mac and wishing product X was available for it when it's on PC or wishing you could use Metasynth in Windows for example ? I know I've seen more than one RTAS plug in that I wished I could use in Logic. And don't get me started on idiots doing the whole PC vs Mac debate either (seen to much of that here and elsewhere).
Perception is a funny thing and it's all well and good being on the out side looking in but it's all to easy to forget that to those on the inside looking out that they generally see an all too familiar reflection without even being aware of it.

All of the sudden I see and hear about all these developers lining up to create plug ins for Reason. Now, I was fine when Reason was an all-in-one audio application. Not for me, for sure, but I could see the attraction with people who like to live with that type of limitation. Easy to become intimate with your tool. I get it.

But now, Propellerheads decided that it was their mission to create yet another plug in format, rather than just equip their software to one of the standard plug in formats that already exist. Why be mad? Because it's obviously draining developer time that could be spent on fixing existing bugs and adding functionality to existing VSTs or creating totally new ones. FFS, if you want to use a tool that lets you use plug-ins, there are a healthy crop of DAWs out that all offer fantastic functionality suited to any style of musician. :x

For gawds sake !!!!
Lets see Syria has gone to shit, the Afghan war keeps going on and on.
The European economy has tanked, the weak justify the strong, we live in a political climate that favours corporate culture over the needs of the public, children die in third world countries and despots still rule.
Monsanto are assholes, we're on the cusp of global peak oil supply and in the middle of an obesity epidemic with huge numbers of people developing diabetes in the developed world.
Then there's racial profiling, the death penalty, incarceration rates for minorities and a slew of other problems revolving around illegal immigration and people smuggling and you're "Pissed off" by Reason.
Perhaps you should find an issue that's actually worth getting angry over ( you know just saying).
At the end of the day its just software, why get so het up about it ?
Because the PH are acting like Monsanto.
Their RE (SEEDS)
are not capable to be used (REPRODUCED)
anywhere else but in their ecosystem (MONSANTO CONTAMINATED FIELD)
and you can not resell (PATENTED SEEDS)
and even though you have the original seeds (VST)
you need to pay again for the modified version RE (MONSANTO SEED) :hihi:

How about this:

Reason bashers are a very vocal bunch. It's quite a cult thing for some of them. And RE's brought them out of the closet on THIS forum on every Reason thread saying the same handful of things over and over.

It's actually hilarious. After years of using it, now they spend years bashing it.

But they will probably pipe down in a while. I'm pretty sure most of the RE bashers will realize there's no complaint to be repeated incessantly before very long.

headquest, you jumped OFF of Reason yet are one of the top 3 people that are THE MOST vocal about what you specifically DON'T like about it. It baffles the mind.

Your statement about Reason "fans" is as hypocritical as I've seen.

Leaving aside the fact that you've left logical argument behind and resorted to personal attack, which is always a sign of losing an argument, the only reason I've been talking about Reason a lot recently is because there are so many threads about it going around. It's a hot topic is all. But you can find me elsewhere here talking in Live threads, Bitwig threads, OT threads, and so on. I'm not just here to bash Propellerhead, even though there are clearly some here who only pop in to promote Reason.

And at the end of the day, whether you like it or not I happen to feel that my opinion is just as valid as yours... I'm genuinely sorry you don't see it that way, because I always thought you to be a fair minded bloke.

I'm guessing from your repeated attacks in various threads that you would rather I would keep quite and cede the floor to the fanboys and marketing engineers, so that they can continue their praise and worship of Reason uninterrupted...

That's not going to happen though, because I personally think it's worth having debates that consist of both sides of the argument. In fact I value that, and often within these discussions I am persuaded by the arguments that others put forward. It comes from being open minded. I guess it's just also that I grew up in a relatively free country where people like to discuss stuff in a balanced way, and I had a schooling where I was encouraged to ask questions and develop critical thinking.

YMMV, obviously. I'm sorry that I offend you so.

Haha, funny. It's true though. If they were really interested in giving their users access to plug ins, why not just integrate VST compatibility to your software and be done with it? My rant isn't about Reason getting plug in use. It's about them creating an unnecessary new plug in format.

VST plugins will make your computer have a BSOD crash.

That could be true. After all they crash your computer not Reason.
