What's wrong with moving a window using the titlebar? The sides of a window are used for resizing. If a non-resizable window would be moved by dragging the sides, then also resizable windows should be moved by the sides otherwise it becomes inconsistent+confusing. But then how to resize a resizable window?

because the title bar is beyond the screen edge. my vst is too big for my screen but only by a little bit. i knew i had a good reason for asking. why not make just the corner in the bottom the 'grab handle' for resizing? jo other software does it this way. yours is always different in these small ways. why dont you simply follow established norms?

It's the same way as Windows and OSX: Sides are for resizing, title bar = moving.

Previously OSX did it as you describe, but they changed it towards the Windows way since 10.7 Lion. Luckily, because the previous way was frustrating for a lot of users. That's why they changed it.

other software does it this way.

Move a window by dragging the borders? What other software? And if it exists, it is not compliant to the standard OS way, which is something you don't like.

i swear i have moved a window that wasnt resizable by grabbing the border. im not sure when, but i dont have occasion to do it often. and yes i would like to move or close the vsti window.

one area where you dont comply with norms is on the windows task bar: you can click the mulab button to show the program but you cant click again to hide. another: there is only maximize and close buttons on mulab windows. after you maximize you need to close or resize manually to see whats behind it.

This one in particular is missing.
When I have an application window not maximized, say 60% of the monitor, and then I maximize it, naturally the application window will cover the whole monitor area. Then, if I double click the title bar the window will return to the previous size, 60% in this case.
This would be great especially in MuLab, more than the MUX.

jo could you add a way to force a window to the top left corner of the screen without moving it by the title bar? the maximize shortcut wont work and i still cant move my VST.

Just Right-Click on any border of that window and choose "Move to top left".
