OK, so Vojtec wasn't aware of that particular plugin, so what? you started trashing him before he ever said anything in this thread.
yes, for reasons from past threads, sometimes a post is too ironic not to point it out
so, again, what is your point?
I thought my point was clear: whatever you do, assume that someone already did it or thought of it, years before.
In some rare cases it really is new. But an EQ band out of a low/high shelf? Pleeeease, how pretentious does one have to be to say "yes we were the first but it was only a matter of time before someone cloned it"?

Sonalksis did dynamic EQ's too (way before Melda), would you trash them too?
If they (or someone) were bragging about it being new, yes probably.
I laugh at some devs's marketing way more than at Melda's, if you want names, "Sound Magic" is one of them (but then again, who isn't laughing at it).

I'd argue that it's just another fancy name for a multiband compressor, but I don't care.

That is not true at all or has you seen a Multiband compressor with adjustable Q? Or a Multiband compressor with different filter slopes? Or a Multiband compressor wit up to 7 Bands?

Your Argument is weak e.g. I could said EQ is a fancy name for filter, compressor for level amp etc, etc.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Ok, Tony Choper, I think it's time for you to leave asap. Again, you are arguing everyone. I don't really want your aggressive blabber on the forum, which should sometimes help somebody...

still not a good enough reason to bash another fellow developer. especially since you (by your own admittance) don't know his other work very well. that just makes you look like a douche. do you trash other developers too that come up with yet another EQ (cloned? FFS, just how many ways are there to make an EQ GUI?) for being unoriginal and still taking pride of their work?

everyone brags about their plugins being best thing since sliced bread, with lots of developers throwing around "secret sauce" terms like DCAM, or VRM/DSM, or Character knob, or whatever. it's called marketing.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Don't fall in his trap, he now acts as the poor defenceless dev who is being attacked and yet replies politely (I'd almost have mercy), BUT he forgot that the internet has a memory. If you do a little search you will find some old threads in which he's the one who started bashing other people's products.
Actually, it was about multiband compressors, he was pretty much bashing every multiband compressor out there (ours included), to promote his. And you'll see he wasn't so courteous :)

Well, I feel that I have the right to bash a developer who not only cloned a plugin's idea of ours (but that's ok, as I wrote, certainly not a new idea), not only the plugin's GUI layout (that starts to be weird, but why not?), but also some of its presets (& that starts to be copyright infringement, some companies would take legal actions, so I hope you don't mind if I just point it out that his business is about cloning?)

The problem with cloning isn't so much the cloning, it's when people start accusing the original one to be the clone..
So to the OP: do some research first.

Sorry but we haven't used dumb acronyms in our marketing yet. Do you like to be sold a plugin like it's a bag of washing powder?

cloning still takes effort, you know. he didn't steal your code, he made his own, even if taking your plugin as a basis. that's not copyright infringement - you can't copyright an idea, only a specific expression. besides, i don't care one bit if his plugins are a clone of anyone else's, or that other plugins are clones of his - i am not even his customer (and neither i am yours, for that matter). it just strikes me as a douche move to start bashing a developer out of the blue. this thread was started as a bashing, which i also don't agree with, but why continue?

as for marketing - i don't care if it's sold to me like a bag of washing powder. i get the demo, if i like what i hear - i buy it. i love DCAM stuff not because of DCAM acronym, but because it sounds great to my ears. and i still don't care if they choose to push it like it's the be all end all plugin.

I'll probably remove this thread, 'cos Tony is out of order again. To shed some light for those of you, who have no idea what the hell is happening, here's the short story:

Tony started promoting his Maximus, a multiband dynamics processor. Unfortunately he was fearlessly claiming (including the website) how transparent it is. Normally I just laugh over words such as "the best", "unique" etc., but transparent is a technical fact and Maximus was everything but transparent.
Let me explain (enjoy Tony, you asked for it). A core of a multiband processor is a crossover. Most of them use the typical so-called LR2 crossover, which is pretty easy to do, unfortunately Tony had absolutely no idea how to do it (obviously he's not really an expert in signal processing) and obviously after a few attempts to fix the problems (which were not only measurable, but clearly audible), he just quit, made Maximus only 3-band processor (yeah, that's right, Maximus has just 3 bands, because there couldn't be more, otherwise even a kid would hear it) and started claiming it's transparent.

When I saw it, I had to repond. I actually didn't mess with other processors (maybe except that all processors I know are less versatile than MMultiBandDynamics), just Maximus. Tony is obviously heartbroken :D and ever since then he likes to spit on MeldaProduction. Unfortunately for him, the only argument he has is the fact, that our eq buttons looked very similar to his. And they do and I always admitted I liked them and I got inspired. But seriously, eq buttons?? Grow up Tony... You are more and more pathetic...

I'm going to close this thread now, because it wastes my time and it only sheds bad light on ImageLine for employing people like Tony.
