Madrona Labs synths have a latch mode AFAIK?
From what I see it works exactly as in Surge.
EDIT: Not quite. Aalto for example has a GATE section which has a Level knob, this is basically your VCA bias. So all voices are always running then you just offset their zero point and get them to drone. So this one actually does polyphonic droning (guess this is why it's limited to 4 voice polyphony too).

Brilliant idea ! i would prefer to have one of my feet free but i can play holding the pedal of the master keyboard with with one foot and the other foot for the sustain pedal of the rhodes !tasmaniandevil wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 8:41 am Is there a reason why you can't use a sustain pedal to hold those notes in Diva?

oh, i see
i thought "similar to the one on the MS-20?" was meant to be in envelope stage
regular hold, alike sustain, can be found in
korg polysix, monopoly (plugin and hardware)
and fullbucket MonoFury
arturia pigments has a hold button in the keyboard section
since it's part of the patch it gets switched off with patch change...

The Roland System-8 hardware (not sure if the Plug-Out actually works exactly the same) has Key Hold that's specific to the Arp. So if the Arp+Key Hold is engaged, keys are held until the next note or set of notes. Changing patches shuts it down since that's not a global setting. It's a great feature when using an Arp.
Otherwise, just holding the sustain pedal down will hold the envelope level, which also doesn't carry over from preset to preset.

you can do this in mainstagerobin77 wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 3:09 pmBrilliant idea ! i would prefer to have one of my feet free but i can play holding the pedal of the master keyboard with with one foot and the other foot for the sustain pedal of the rhodes !tasmaniandevil wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 8:41 am Is there a reason why you can't use a sustain pedal to hold those notes in Diva?
for example use the midiFX Modifier
and if your keyboard has controller knobs, set one of these to sustain
or else for example the modwheel, or a key (lowest note) you don't need as a switcher

All good, it's a known issue in the current Diva version.muki wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 4:05 pm after some preset changes it crashes
saved crashlog in case of interest
If you use a sustain pedal to hold notes and switch presets at the same time, it can crash. We're on it.

Since we have neither, could you share how they work in these scenarios that Urs originally asked about?steinhalvorsen wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 9:24 am Arturia MiniFreak V has a hold button, just like the hardware.
---
When you flip through presets, when you hit one with Hold mode enabled, do they produce sound without further user interaction?
Likewise, when you open a previously saved project, does it produce audio without further user interaction?

- The Hold button is not saved on a preset basis. If you turn it on, it remains on from preset to preset, but resets to 0 notes held when you change to a new preset.

- The Hold is turned off (and so it is quiet) when I reopen the saved project.
Hope that helps!

Does this practically differ from double clicking a key on one of our synths that has a built-in keyboard control?

Aalto also uses the full CPU (of the number of voices set) whether the voices are sounding or not. Unfortunately, this is why I only use their plugins sparingly.EvilDragon wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:57 pm Madrona Labs synths have a latch mode AFAIK?

No, not as far as I can tell. Having a button just makes it a bit more obvious that it's a feature, I suppose.Urs wrote: Fri Mar 10, 2023 1:20 pm Does this practically differ from double clicking a key on one of our synths that has a built-in keyboard control?

It differs because double clicking on a key only ever allows one note to be held, not a chord.Urs wrote: Fri Mar 10, 2023 1:20 pm Does this practically differ from double clicking a key on one of our synths that has a built-in keyboard control?
