mbncp wrote:IMO it's pretty much a no brainer, sounds good so far. AFAIR this looks like the "real" thing, plus it has 4 xy pads that let you deal with 2 fx with a single finger. It has a recorder as well. Every fx seems to be editable like the vst version. You can even double tap that area to get a zoom wich may help with editing.
Only downside for me is the vertical layout, though it's ok to use it horizontal, maybe just a bit tricky for the advance editing.

They really did a nice job, audiobus, jack, midi clock, midi out so you can record you performance, good stuff !

I was already able to crash it fooling on an edit page, but will try with a clean re-boot.

I did and learned more things in 5-10 minutes than a year with the vst version, it's really cool with a tablet.
So far gave them 5 stars.
Does it have a way to load audio files, or is strictly use an effect (like in audio bus/jack)?

It has audio paste

Not a big problem, it's fine to use it in landscape mode, just try to use it always in the same orientation and it should be fine.

@elxsound, you can load file from your itunes library, itunes file sharing or audiopaste.

Btw, these fx sound really good, until now I was still using a lot of fx on the laptop, but this is changing the rule.

Big thanks to the sugar people :)

I can't see how to make it landscape either... How is it fine to use in landscape ?

It's your brain that does it, what I mean is that it's fairly easy to operate it 90 deg clockwise, it's not like having to play a keyboard or something with a lot of reading. This plug is very gui based, so even upside down it should be ok.

@mbncp Thank you....

I'm not a big fan of the iTunes file sharing, but I actually just bought it and I don't think it's going to be an issue. I have a feeling this will be most fun using as an effect in AudioBus.

I'll try it tonight, but I'm already thinking this could be a lot of fun recording into Samplr since I think the best results will be the accidental ones (which means lots of fun, fsu style).

First up will be (via AudioBus) Animoog --> Tornado --> Samplr.

And yes... the effects are very nice. I've always liked their stuff. I've owned Effectrix twice now and Artillery. Both were good, but just didn't fit my workflow (and I liked using The Finger for most of what I would use Artillery for). Tornado always seemed like a unique item, especially with the Dictator feature. This is just lovely!

This app is really well done. I'm an io dock owner as well, but that's a DEAD technology. Bad converters, horrible support, poor design choices. The new wave of ios audio will arrive with iconnectmidi audio pass through. No conversion necessary.

Anyone know if a live performer via an iRig mic or Apogee Jam can use this in realtime? Looking for a cool effects unit to run live flute/singing through. The current crop of guitar effect apps don't give me much that is useable or musical for my purpose.
thx

JavaJ: check The Beardytron 5000, Beardyman's live rig.
2 x ipad Turnado used there.
it seems that it accepts audio in !

Hi Hugo :-)

Is there another way to neatly get midi in/out, audio in/out USB midi in/out , headphone out and charge an iPad ?

Actually I have a 30 pin extender so the ipad can work away from the ioDock.

Still IMO its a major oversight as there are other docks out there that will suffer the same problem.

Oh crap!!! It's D.o.a for me.. I get the start screen for 10 seconds then 'poof' it disappears.. Not happy at all!! For a premium app you would expect it to work no problems- I rebooted and also re-installed it all to no avail.. Pretty disappointed .. Sorry sugar bytes, the first review in the Australian app store is a lousy 1 star from me til it's fixed... :(

Do you have a jailbroken device and/or still using iOS 5.1?Just curious...

My plan is to mainly use it for live vocals. I will sit it after Loopy HD. record in vocal loops live, then mangle with turnado.

Just dl'ed. No time to play now but the portrait only is a shame.
Also whilst 4 mod pads is nice, I liked the single dictator slider as per VST.
Would be nice to get this also on future update, just so that I have the option for a single finger mod on all parameters.

Nice tho
:D

It has the dictator also. AFAIK, it has everything the VST does, plus more.

Not jail broken but yes iPad 3 with 5.1 (specs say only iOS 5.0 is needed)
I actually finally got it working in audiobus.. It took a few restarts.. And it works fine there now..still No go with the app running by itself tho..

There is an ios5.x issue it seems, just got an email from support.. It is being looked at
