If you have tried ReFX Nexus 2 yet, I think that could be the synth for you, good review in MusicRadar: http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/tech/ ... us2-173279
For a huge bank of high-quality, ready-to-go synthetic tones for contemporary genres, it's hard to beat Nexus2. Many of the sounds are instantly inspiring in themselves, and the slick interface and preset categorisation help to keep that inspiration flowing.

We can't say that about every virtual instrument and the majority of them don't sound as good as Nexus2, either.

I see other synth with big threads and where users are interested about the sound and stuff. Discovery is a bit under the radar because... yes, because the sound is mediocre and the synth and features are average.
Which synth sounds fantastic in your opinion?
All U-He synth like Diva, Zebra, Ace, Tyrell.
Some Arturia Synth like SEM, Mini V.
Rob Papen Predator.
Some of this newer synth like Spire ("fantastic" of course more for people loving more a modern Virus like sound). There are other synth which can sound very good but needing a lot more work because they are relatively complex like Synthmaster.
Some older synth like Z3ta.
Tone2 Saurus (I would not say it has a "fantastic" sound but it's a very good digital synth with a bit analog touch)
There are some other very new synth like the Linplug "Spectral" but where I spend not enough time and it's still beta so not on my list (yet).
I think other synth will follow the next time: Dune2 is announced where I expect something new and different and a great sound too, maybe Tone2 NeoFM...

There are some other synth where I would say "very good" but more in the middle of the list ;)
In my "list" DiscoDSP synth sharing some of the last positions (this includes also Corona which was a big disappointment). But this is of course only my personal opinion and everybody has a different idea about a good sounding synth.

Of course I would love to try that one but they dont seem to have a demo..

I think that if someone just wants a Nord 2X emulation, Discovery is what they should get. If someone wants more than the features that are in the hardware, get Discovery Pro. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I used to have Discovery years ago, I think it was version 1. The sound quality wasn't that great and did not compare to my Nord 2X, but I have been demoing again recently, and with the latest version, it sounds just as good as the hardware. I will be picking up the regular version of Discovery sometime soon! I actually like the blue skin on the regular version better than the black skin on the pro version. I'm sure when using Logic X, all of the black isn't that exciting...

I would love to see a good comparison of Discovery (Pro) to a Nord Lead, especially with the new filters in Discovery. Would probably raise the interest in it too, if it does the modelling well. From what i've seen on Youtube, the old filter sounded pretty different to the Nord Lead's (i found the Nord Leads way better). Probably the newer one is much closer though.

When demoing, just be sure to turn on 2x oversampling and HQ distortion.

I love Discovery.

The plan is (or will be)* to create patches on the train, then export to the NL2x later.

* When/if I get my Nord back.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

I like DiscoveryPro but it is not my favorite synth.

What I like is the huge preset library quickly available after a few downloads.
With Big Tick Zen I think I could even grab more presets :) but the last version is not recognized by Zen for now :(

I find it not the easiest to program but not the hardest too.

I was a bit disappointed by the unison, I would have loved true unison up to 8 voices for each of the four oscillators, and not the 4 oscs detuning themselves limiting the unison to 4 voices for "1" oscillator. My mistake I didn't investigate enough, I bought it first to have a VA with a little bit the same features as Sylenth, but big miss :) Hopefully I have ANA and Spire that cover well that ground (except for CPU :( ).

I like the HQ distortion, can make some gritty basses with it.
But I don't like the CPU usage too much when all the quality options are enabled (os x2, HQ dist and zdf filters).
I love the sound when all quality options are enabled (but sometimes the old filters can be nice too).

I love to be able to import nord lead 2 patches. But I hate the process, I find it cumbersome.

For now I didn't spent enough time with it, and didn't read the manual so maybe some functions remain obscure to me.

I like Corona a lot, the oscillators combination algorithms can make really unusual and weird sounds, but it is hit and miss, most of the combinations are unusable. Corona has a great cpu usage on my rig. Sorry for off topic with Corona :p

Sometimes it's sold on Market Place for a very nice price (around$75 or $80).

It's a matter of being at the right place, at the right time. :)

Hihi ;) Predator is about $179 (maybe cheaper) and for me the best Papen synth. I prefer it over Blue and over the discontinued Linplug/Papen Albino.
It's for me a secret weapon for thick pads, modulated sounds, leads and is shipped with a very large preset library.

Hello, thanks for your interest in our products. Discovery / Discovery Pro include 40+ banks to try with the demo version.

There are < > arrows on the LCD bank name that will navigate thru them once clicked.
