This this was built right here in town. I don't really have any connections to the serious art music world, but maybe somebody I know knows somebody who could talk the maker into letting us record some sapmles. It's a longshot but it might happen.

This would be cool if done properly.

The e-bow is cool But I think that for a DIY project is way easier to use these little motors used for RC cars:

The Gizmotron actually works with motors:

The actual device, a small box which was attached to the bridge of the guitar, consisted of six small motor-driven wheels with serrated edges to match the size of each string. The continuous bowing action was activated by pressing one or all of keys located on the top of the unit. Pressing a key would allow the wheel to descend against a motor driven shaft and bow the corresponding string, while the other hand remained free to fret single notes or full chords.

God, what an amazing instrument! The pressure controls volume, timbre and allows tremolo. He was so far ahead of his time.

This is why I love KvR. Another site I read that linked to this was full of people whining about how it doesn't have the kind of attack or vibrato that a violin does. It's like complaining that a sailboat doesn't have four-wheel drive.



Anyway. Also in this vein is the lovely Wheelharp. Invented in 2001 though, so in a way not nearly as impressive as da Vinci's achievement.

Sure, it's cool and all, but I heard the presets are fairly run-of-the-mill and the they do not plan to release a 2.0 for another 500 years.

And no midi or CV out pffft, ahead of its time ..... meh
