If you're intimidated by Z2 one option is to purchase the Transmission soundset with Zebra. In it Ben created a series of patch templates (33 of them) that are almost like 33 remixes of Zebra. The XYs are already mapped to important parameters.

So if you're thinking, I want a 3 osc, 1 xmf filter layout: it's there. If you only want 2 oscs? Just double click the 3rd osc in the matrix and it turns off. Find a good sound? Save it off. Want to start over? re-load the template. Ben also created oscillator templates, paired with Howard's factory oscillators you'll have a ton of sound making options.

I can't recommend enough starting from a template. It will help to reduce the paralysis of choice. Don't try to learn all the modules at once. One of the best ways to learn is 1 osc, 1 filter.

You can see Ben's templates starting on page 25 of the Transmission manual:

Thats a great tip, thanks!

And yes with this setup I would always start with a "init" preset, like a templet, and from there build all my own presets that are tied to the hardware. In a jam setting I would always begin with the init preset though. The whole idea is to use just one template config so that I wouldnt have to re map the hardware controller. In that sense those template presets you linked might be a great start to search for a good setup match for a hardware controller.

For this project I would probably need the controller keyboard with the most knobs and fades available on the marked.

I'd buy Zebra if I didn't already have it!
#1 synth out there atm IMO, because of it's flexibility, versatility and overall sound quality and it's fairly easy to use once you get the grips of it. :tu:
