Would you get up extra early to do that? Hell no!
What is the exact time of Bitwig Studio launch?

I think a 9 AM release time is a bit hopeful.

Wish I had known this before I pre-ordered it at Thomann (they packaged it in the evening, so I will only get it on Thursday morning, but oh well!), since the main motivation was not to have to download it. I also learned only after that the 3 GB content need to be downloaded anyway (hopefully not in one sitting without resume).lesha wrote:Latest beta was about 112MB.
On the flip side, the street price of the boxed version was €10 below the price of the download version, and boxes are fun!

I think that is true only for the full version, not for the demo...Mivo wrote:I also learned only after that the 3 GB content need to be downloaded anyway (hopefully not in one sitting without resume).!

Yep, pretty sure that the demo will not include the 3 GB of "stuff".lesha wrote:I think that is true only for the full version, not for the demo...

Well, you'll get to play with the demo until the boxed version arrivesMivo wrote:Yep, pretty sure that the demo will not include the 3 GB of "stuff".I had hoped the bundled content would be on the DVD(s), which was one of the reasons why I bought the box, and not be a download. Doesn't lessen the excitement.

You download a small app, takes about 3 minutes, and then when it's installed it downloads all the packages while you get started reading the manual and setting up the preferences. The packages take about 20 minutes.
Then it's all systems go.
Prepare ignition.
Range go for launch.

bitwig has figured out how to make their download speeds completely independent of a users connection? Incredible!
Just giving ya a hard time, but really size is the only meaningful spec

Yeah, size matters, in this case.
I'm currently in a severely internet-underdeveloped area, so the DSL they offer here is 384k, which translates to about 45k/s, some 162 MB per hour. It's not an issue as long as downloads can be resumed, but that is why I had hoped the bundled stuff (3 GB) for the full version would be on the boxed version's DVDs. Not a big deal in any event, and doesn't matter for the demo anyway.

I know it sounded like I'm somewhere in a jungle, but I'm actually in Germany.
In spite of the country being technologically advanced, there are some areas that have very poor internet coverage. 10-20 miles in any direction and I'd have lightning fast net, but not in my current location. They offer LTS as a "solution" in for areas, but it's pretty much just a cover up because the caps are at 2-3 GB and then the speed is throttled to the above mentioned numbers. At least it's idyllic here!
