1. The loop bracket is not just for looping, it is also for punch in and out, in which case you do not want to start where the bracket starts and you don't want to have to move the cursor back every time you switch the position
I have to move the cursor to the start of the loop manually. I do this *all the time*, much more than using the punch-in.

Besides which, punch-in usage is is two operation anyway. define loop. manually move playhead... nothing lost
2. A lot of times I want to listen to the section before the part I want to loop to hear it in context
Really?....more than having the ability to instantly play a loop you just defined? i doubt that.
3. This would remove the ability to smoothly transition into looping different parts of the arrangement by moving the bracket somewhere else during playback
It doesn't remove the ability. This can be setup before pressing play. Currently, this caters for the 5% usage pattern. I'm suggesting we target the 95%
Good points. The first two things might not count for that much, but, and maybe it sounds dumb, the rest is just not wanting the daw to make decisions for me.

Yes please, when moving the loop region the playback starter mark should move with the loop region, or at least make it available as option.

In fact. Also enabling the 'loop' button, automatically as well. There's no reason to move a loop range, unless you are going to want it to loop :phones:

It's just so natural and intuitive. This would really make the life of guesstimated 100% of us samplechoppers here easier....

Side Note: Back when I used Emagic Logic Audio on the PC there were separate key commands for record, play, pause, and stop, which made things very flexible. Using the space bar as a play/stop toggle seemed so limiting at the time.

Because Logic allowed you to assign your own key commands, I setup the following on my keyboard's numeric keypad:

0 = Play
Hit "0" while playing, go back to last stopped location and continue playing.

Enter = Stop
Hit "Enter" while stopped, go back to song start. If loop is enabled, go to its start position, and then hit Enter again to go back to the song start.

Period/Del = Pause
Hit "." to stop/start anywhere including inside a loop. You could also use it to start playback or recording inside a loop.

* = Record
Hit "*" to toggle global recording while playing.
Hit "*" while stopped to start recording with a count in.
Hit "." then "*" while stopped to start recording without a count in.

I also added these additional key commands to the numeric keypad to group navigation and transport commands into the same area of the keyboard.

1 = Move play head back one bar
3 = Move play head forward one bar
4 = Move play head back four bars
6 = Move play head forward four bars

I can't remember the rest, but you probably get the point. Hopefully, the Bitwig Devs will implement something similar when the time comes.

Exactly!

That's a very Ableton-like feature, one that I personally don't like at all. I prefer the way it is now, it's more like Logic.

The way it is now in Bitwig is nothing like in logic. in logic, pressing "play" moves the play start position automatically to the start of loop range, which achieves more-or-less what is suggested in this thread.

by the way, you will also note, that logic automatically enables 'loop' if the range is changed also.

Regardless. I'd be happy with either implementation. Fl studios OR logic.

still really hope they will implement this option
:pray: :pray: :pray:

As an option would be fine but as the way it should be all the time I do not like it. I like to move it around the clip like in ableton.

I'd like this to be an option (I'd defo use it!)

In logic I have a key command near the space bar which automatically moves play start position to the start of the loop region. Kinda halfway solution but very intuitive pretty quickly.

+1!!! I thought i was an idiot while i spend hours to find this basic "feature"
