Peter Hammill's album came out only couple of weeks ago so it is not surprising. Twilight Kingdom is definitely best and most coherent album she has made in years. I t features two absolutely beautiful tracks: Estelita and Too Far Gone. I don't think anything moved me as much last year as this album.aMUSEd wrote: Didn't realise Peter Hammill brought out an album - must check it out, he is brilliant. Lisa Gerrard might also be interesting, I love her voice, her albums are patchy but worth a listen (I think the best thing she did was on the first This Mortal Coil album).
Roundup best records of 2014 ?

It's not that it is a bad album either but it is just that it feel exactly what it was originally supposed to be - a b-side album to Division Bell. Definitely not worth all the hype surrounding it. As an ambient companion piece to Division Bell it does sound decent enough.Mushy Mushy wrote:Interesting. Average album at best.Mushy Mushy wrote:Pink Floyd's Endless River
It's been on repeat pretty much since I got it.

I hadn't really thought about it in that light. I've just treated it as an independent body of work, and when treated like this I think it's a masterpiece.
I love the impact the vocals have after 60 odd minutes without them.
And the guitars are just sublime.

I'm really enjoying Beck's "Morning Phase".
It's like "Sea Change" round 2. VERY relaxing.

Downloaded it from Ektoplazm some time ago, but hadn't got round to listening to it before this week, and holy-moly, this freeware release is easily among the best albums of 2014.
Great production, tracks, and basslines = proper chilled out downtempo trance

Syro was, I think, Aphex Twin's least interesting album ever.
How about:
The Control: Over Maschinenfest, Paris and Berlin
Inade: Audio Mythology Two
Lumisokea: Apophenia
Maduro: Blood Turns Black
Falls A Star: Rise Butterfly (it's my own entry for NaSoAlMo, but this is such a small list...)
