2014 has been kind of a lackluster year for new music, if I have to pick a top ten it could be like this:
Aphex Twin - Syro (Warp)
Banco De Gaia - Rewritten Histories Vol 3 2002-13 (Disco Gecko)
Erik Wøllo - Timelines (Projekt)
Killing Joke - In Dub (Bandcamp)
Koan - Big Blue Mix (Blue Tunes)
Plaid - Reachy Prints (Warp)
Sundial Aeon - Analysis (Impact Studio)
Various Artists - Seeds Of Thought (Liquid Seed)
Within Reason - Farshadow (Anodize)
Woob - Ambient Disaster Movie (Bigamoebasounds)
Aphex Twin - Syro (Warp)

Plastikman album was great. A Cabs retrospective was the only other album released this year i really liked, but its not new material. Dont think i could compile a top ten... the Aphex album was easily the biggest fail of the year.

Peter Hammill - ...all that might have been
The 3 CD version was definitely highlight of the year. Fantastic songwriting and interesting exploration of sound.
Peter Murphy - Lion
Powerful stuff and great vocal work as usual.
Lisa Gerrard - Twilight Kingdom
The most beautiful album of 2014, no doubt.
Tim Bowness - Abandoned Dancehall Dreams
I tend to agree that overall 2014 was pretty underwhelming though.

Didn't realise Peter Hammill brought out an album - must check it out, he is brilliant. Lisa Gerrard might also be interesting, I love her voice, her albums are patchy but worth a listen (I think the best thing she did was on the first This Mortal Coil album).robotmonkey wrote:Peter Hammill - ...all that might have been

Sorry to say but I just thought I put this one in as an example of the biggest disappointment of the year. This album was... underwhelming, to put it mildly. Average album at best.Mushy Mushy wrote:Pink Floyd's Endless River
