Seriously now.
I was a Delphi man before I went to Uni. There was a UI course that we did that used Delphi (piece of piss) and I was horrified when the lecturer told me that in the big real world, folk would use Delphi to throw together a working prototype of whatever they were working on.
Then once they had something they liked they'd scrap the lot and do it from the ground up in C++!!!!
Nutters! If it's a win32 project there is f**k all wrong with the Delphi compiler. f**king masochists.
Hey I'm one to talk! I've got to roll my own drag'n'drop for the StepChild mac port. :-o

I'm using delphi because (a) it's free (personal edition), and (b) basing projects off of tobybear's template makes things easy easy easy. And handling the GUI is easy easy easy. Did I forget to mention that delphi is easy?  Then again, I'm an old pascal head from back in the day. I think I still have my TurboPascal 1.0 disks along with some strange UCSD Pascal compiler. :D

I *may* still have my TP1.0 disks somewhere (not sure, I may have had to send the disk in to get TP2.0?), although I don't have any machines with 5.25" disk drives any more.

UCSD Pascal?! Geez, someone that's been doing computers as long as I have! The CSIS dept at YSU (where I work) may still have manuals stashed in a box, I remember eyeballing the bootstrap/porting book and getting a headache.

Interesting enough, my "language of choice" at the moment is perl, although I doubt we'll ever see a VSTI that can talk to it... I've heard of VSTI that can talk python somewhere, though... guess that's the next language on my list. Perhaps I can make netrexx work with jvst?
