Good to hear, thanks. And yes, just email us and we'll send your new key right out. (In fact, don't worry about it, I know your email. New key-file sent! That'll be the last time you need a new one, these new keys are portable.)Teksonik wrote:EDIT: The Beta runs in Demo mode and has silence drop outs. Any way to get it to read my old license ? I never updated to the new key file system or whatever is is..... I guess I should do that.
Anyway tortured the beta pretty good in Orion so far. Playing fast notes and switching patches, holding a fist full of notes and fast switching patches with no hung notes. I'll test with FL Studio and Reaper next............

I'm curious to see what sort of GUIs the community comes up with, too. I have to admit that the stock GUI is pretty intimidating.
The beta sounds pretty great! Working fine on LPX+Yosemite.

Got the new key file, thanks ! I'm impressed you remembered my e-mail....there are days I can't remember it.......AdmiralQuality wrote:I know your email. New key-file sent! That'll be the last time you need a new one, these new keys are portable.)
Ok so I got the key file installed and beta is now authorized. I'll do some more testing after work today. Was there a particular DAW that was generating reports of hung notes ? I can test in Sonar, Reaper, Orion and FL Studio.

I was able to get it most reliably in the AU version in Logic 9. Echoes in the Attic said he got it in Bitwig a lot. Reaper tends to be very well behaved (sometimes too much, it can lull you into a false sense of security). Would appreciate if you could torture test in FL Studio. That host is cray cray!

Ok I'll give the beta a good workout in FL Studio (it can be wonky with some plugins).

First time i heard about this synth today and i downloaded the Beta version.
I was impressed, for me personally the GUI i find inspiring, it might be a little
small but it is very inspiring and i love it. Its kinda original, unique, closer to
a synth look, nothing futuristic...but this thing is rather complex which makes
me love it more and it sounds great, probably with the top 5 synths i own.
Good job to whoever designed this, its a good synth. As far as what went wrong
with the topic i did not really read 40 pages...or maybe better off.

(The "wish list" thread went toxic because of certain extremely rude people who interpreted it as me volunteering to take orders from them, and who felt the need to repeat the exact same unfounded complaints literally scores of times. It's been distracting from this thread about the current Beta which is far more important, so I locked it and, frankly, I hope it gets removed entirely.)
And we won't be having any discussion of the current GUI in THIS thread, as very soon in this Beta, you're going to be able to make your own. (Anti-aliasing first though. It's almost ready, I just have a few more things to tweak and also want a few more days of testing this former voice hanging bug that appears to be fixed now.)

Thanks Mike for the product anyways...if need it any help with detailed testing or anything let me know.

I gave the beta a pretty brutal testing in FL Studio playing as fast as I could, switching patches, holding a hand full of notes etc and not one hung note.............AdmiralQuality wrote: voice hanging bug that appears to be fixed now.)

I created like 2 patches, some pretty heavy with some real Release going on
and stuff, i don't know, i used the 64Bit dll in Cubase 8 Pro, no hanging notes
or anything at all, i did kinda brutal things too:

I used the same sound to play chords and also with sustain Pedal, went very well.

Is the new anti-aliasing supposed to be an improvement over the brute force oversampling?
I guess so or else you wouldn't be going to the trouble adding it

It will be a parameter you can turn on or off. So you can use either, neither, or both together. And yes, right now Poly-Ana's oversampling reduces, but doesn't completely eliminate alias frequencies from the oscillators. The anti-aliasing feature will add another method that will eliminate them in some cases, and further reduce them in others. (Due to Poly-Ana's very complex oscillators with continuous waveform morphing and multiple types of modulation that can be applied in combination, even the new AA feature will sometimes allow alias frequencies to happen. But it reduces them significantly and in the more simple cases, removes them entirely.)mike the mental wrote:Is the new anti-aliasing supposed to be an improvement over the brute force oversampling?

The oversampling will still help other aspects of the sound though, like the quality of the filters, so there's still reason to want to use it even with AA on.
Thanks for the torture testing guys, this sounds like good news!

(I like that filename. MP3-1.wav!
Check out Poly-Ana's Phase Mod (better known as Yamaha style FM) ability in the PM: presets. Some very powerful stuff there -- all those PM patches achieve their tonal variation without the use of ANY filtering! (They could have brought the filters into play as well, but I wanted to demonstrate the capability so I left the filters wide open and unmodulated.)
Also, familiarize yourself with the filter routing (the Dest switch on Filter 1). The sound can either go through each filter in series, allowing for band pass and band reject filters as well as the usual LPF and HPF sounds. Or the filters can be patched in parallel, with the output of each going either to a different Amp for each filter output, or they can both be patched to the same Amp (1, controlled with Filter 2's Dest switch).
The parallel filtering is how most stereo Poly-Ana sounds are made. Stuff that other synths would use a chorus effect for, Poly-Ana can do by detuning its 3 oscillators and sending them through the 2 Filters and then to the 2 Amps, hard-panned to stereo. (I usually detune two oscillators a bit, pan one entirely left, another entirely right and put the in-tune oscillator straight up the middle. The first built-in patch demonstrates this. But there are many other ways to get stereo effects as well.)
Even when routing both Filters in series, which makes the Filter 2 output effectively mono, you can still create stereo panning effects and much more with the Amp sections. (Try modulating an Amp Pan by an Oscillator or Filter-1's output instead of the usual LFO or envelope!

Thanks Mike, by now i figured the whole thing our already, its amazing, same as i've
had it for 10 years...only one problem...for the life of me i can not completely figure
out the Mod Mixers. Still working on it. Will probably write you an email.
An example would be: have the MW, AT and LFO all 3 control the Filter 1 Cutoff which
should be pretty simple, in Mod Mix 1 you take 3 source, assign them to the appropriate
source and then assign Mod Mix 1 to the F1 Cutoff...but still struggling with it.
Thanks

The important thing to grasp with the Mod Mixers is the difference between adding modulation sources together (which should be self-explanatory) and multiplying them together (which scales one by the other). So the multiplication function (electronically like a VCA or a ring modulator) is good for, say, having an LFO's amount scaled by an envelope. When the Amount for that multiplier is set to 10.0, you will only get full effect of the previous modulator when the envelope reaches its peak level (+1). At any level less than that, it will reduce the level of the previous Modulation Source (or sources) that it's being multiplied against. Scaling the multiplier amount down below 10.0 (which in the case of multipliers is really 1.0) reduces the amount of that scaling effect, so at zero the multipler has no effect at all and the previous Sources pass through unaffected. (The negative end of the range is for inverting the phase, so negative inputs will work. But as envelopes only ever go positive, the negative range of the Amount control, when controlling a multiplier, is only really useful for multiplying by an LFO, or by the complex output of the other Mod Mixer that go negative in their output.)BasariStudios wrote:Thanks Mike, by now i figured the whole thing our already, its amazing, same as i've

(Sorry if that's REALLY confusing. I just woke up and haven't had a tea yet.
Also, make sure the Mod Mixer's Lag filter is at 0, or it might be smoothing the output so much you can't hear it. Same with the Rectifier, turn it off unless you want it as part of the effect.
You may not be hearing your LFO because it might be set to scale according to the Mod Wheel position (the Mod Wheel button in each LFO) or perhaps the LFO has a Delay Time set and isn't coming on fully right at note-down time?
Let's try this new attachment feature. Here's a little Mod Mix demo (attached) with LFO2 multiplied against Env3, and used to modulate the Filters' Cutoffs. The LFO amount will rise and fall with the progress on Env3. Notice how the short release time on Env3 causes the LFO effect to halt as soon as you release a key, even though the sound continues (due to Env1 and 2's longer release times).
