fwiw I see the new thing going is cloud browsers, where companies are trying to pimp users to buy their loops, so they make a software similar, but not at all what most are looking for, the hunt still continues.. this is really crazy that there's a million vsts but very few options for sample management tools INSIDE the DAW! ya know where the works done!

Yes, I'd like to see more workflow tools made available like this and maybe even some piano roll "plugins" that would work inside daw's own piano roll to manipulate and generate midi notes inside a plugin. The later might be an impossibility across all daws but the browser, I really think should be doable. The good news though is most daws have decent browsers already, just a few don't have one (or good ones). Luckily, for me, the switch to Studio One made such a thing a lower priority, but still would be nice to have other options.
Mind if I ask you which DAW you are using, trusampler?

Hi Touch, Yes gladly I'm using Presonus Studio One since it was released.I love the simplicity of their browser,it forced me to organize about 15 years of sample content/folders over the last 8 years or so.
The Presonus development in this department is of utter foot dragging at best when it comes to requests made for drag n drop, the fact they don't check/test/or update to see if 3rd party sampler vstis work with it, such as AKAI Mpc software, and Motu's BPM is terrible.
I've been trying to get them (Presonus) to update their Drag n Drop from their browser and arranger function for years, but to no avail. Amazing their own software "IMPACT" works fine though, the lack of Impact updates is another huge let down imo..
I've also been a big supporter of the hopes n feature requests of piano roll vstis such as a "FL Studio piano roll" simply put imo, no one even comes close to theirs for 808s and snare rolls imo.Be amazing if we could dissect our favorite features from daws, or if developers we're paying closer attention to producers.
Back to the sample browser, if they wont fix drag n drop, at least can we get a developer to understand end users wants and needs, to categorize and tag their own content under one roof, and use it within our daws,jeez.. A million synths every year, yet no love for sample management in the form of a vsti for the daw, whoever does this RIGHT first will most likely profit very well.
I'm personally not interested in standalone options, thats what finder/windows explorer already does for me,besides a few bells and whistles, I don't need another layer of confusion, just put it in the daw man, and let us work!
Till then it's relying on the S1 browser+show in explorer/finder..

I'm pretty happy with the browser in Studio One, for the most part. I like that it lets you play the entire length of the sample and not a 3 second preview like in fl studio.
For piano roll vsti's, what I'd like to see is not so much a vsti piano roll that I'd use instead of the DAW's one, but a plugin that integrates already with the DAW piano roll to expand its functionality. Image a plugin that would behave like breaktweaker for rolls, etc, that would manually draw in the notes in the piano roll and let you adjust on the fly, or advanced arps that don't have to be routed or the midi dragged into the piano roll, but while working, actively draws in the the notes in the piano roll automatically, so the midi notes are never seperate from the daw piano roll.
Just an idea, not sure if its a good one or if it would speed things up considerably. On that front, fl studio's arpeggiate behaves most like scenario I've found.
