I'm not a fanboy or a gear slut ....I just get tired of nobody's thinking that they even matter! Be happy or not!

When I said... "Nothing complex.", that meant... "There's nothing complex about my reason for not owning it."... i.e., I just didn't particularly like it for what I use daws for and I saw no real advantage to it over what I'd already landed on. Got it?

WTF has that got to do with it?

Do expensive training shoes have to make you a good runner?
Does an electric toothbrush have to make you a good dentist?

If you make music with the childishly delusional goal of becoming famous, then you're making music for the wrong reason. If you make music just to be creative and "get it out of your system", which would be the correct approach, then you need tools that enable, not restrict you. Anything holding you back when you're trying to do what you need to do to successfully vent your creativity is not worth having.

Still doesn't imply that you wish to become some globally idolized media monkey just because you use an expensive or extensive host application. Geez...

To begin with I don't wear panties.....I go commando!!! Just owning a six figure custom guitar does not mean you can play like O(+> Prince... who can blow doors off with Japanese knock off. It's not the tools it's what you do with them!

Just because I post at Acid Planet doesn't mean I use loops. If I was concerned with success I wouldn't be there. It's funny it takes several little dogs to bark at a big dogs heels. Keep the pup in the yard till it's full grown!

Vent creativity? That sounds like a problem. Like an addiction. I make music for me and to have fun. Forums are for venting. :hihi:

I looked at it 10 years ago, and again getting my current daw 2010 - but there were so much excuses about midi bugs in Windows and things - so I felt they are not on top of this. When problems arise one can guess the blame game is on Windows - never in their own software.

But never had hands on Orion. Always sad when folks have to discontinue products.
I'm sure they are very skilled and hardworking people.

From my point of view, Orion suffered from a lack of care/management from within... implosion.

There were several pushes but they never seemed to have full support on it.. part of it was either in hiring others to help or outsourcing the code as the project grew larger and larger to the point I suspect it was difficult for one person to really work on it. Almost as if the dev didn't want others to touch their code.. that is mere speculation however.

I watched it's progress along with FL over a decade and the difference was night and day... the FL team seemed dedicated to their product and growing the userbase... Synapse seemed to not care about those things more so over time.. it just sat and collected vines... so sad.

Oh, and I did own Orion, and paid for upgrades in that decade+. I can only imagine newcomers looking at Orion at version 7 or 8 and then looking at competing products and largely not having a positive outlook at Orion as featurewise it was lacking comparatively. Which I also find sad as it was really really easy to use and could have been so much more than it was allowed to become.

After about 3 years of waiting for an update/bugfixes from 8.5, I got tired of waiting myself and jumped ship for the island of Cubase. It has it's own quirks but does a lot of things I wanted in Orion but never were realized.

I think for Orion to really come back, it would need more developers working on it and a serious outlook of what it would take to be competitive in the current market. If those points were met, I'd be interested.

Makes one wonder how any music was made before Quad processor multi-threaded mega RAM double digit oscillator mid side this or that came into existence. Like Orianthi said...according to you...and Ice Cube said...F**k all y'all! :borg:

Let's avoid personal attacks. This is a good discussion and I'd rather not see this thread close.
