I'm aware of the possible workarounds. The point is to have the modulation included as part of the Patch......Phil999 wrote:if you need a dynamic release time, there are two options:
- a plugin/software that sends MIDI CC with varying values (like an LFO) to that parameter in Diva. Reaktor, Lemur, sequencers, etc. can do that.
- automation in the DAW.

Not exactly the same as modulating just the release time, but since we can already scale the envelope rates by pitch, maybe that little "KYBD" slider could be configurable? It's one of the few front-panel modulation parameter that is fixed (with its neighbor, the velocity slider, and the similar "KYBD" knobs in the filter panels).

I was also aware of that. Still ...Teksonik wrote: I'm aware of the possible workarounds. The point is to have the modulation included as part of the Patch......
If you want something, you can do it. In my view, realtime MIDI control and DAW automation is not a workaround, it's common procedure. How often do you need envelope modulation really? Every time? Or only randomly? But I understand what you're saying. What I try to say is, focus on what you really want, on what you really need. The tools at your hand give you already plenty of options, use them. And when you need extra options, use the tools in your DAW or devices.
Some things are much simpler as they seem. I read many times about feature requests for software, although those features are already there.

Automation is monophonic... so it is not always a good replacement for modulation in the synthPhil999 wrote:I was also aware of that. Still ...Teksonik wrote: I'm aware of the possible workarounds. The point is to have the modulation included as part of the Patch......

I don't see the point - automation of a parameter in a polyphonic synth is not monophonic ...Phil999 wrote:pdxindy wrote: Automation is monophonic... so it is not always a good replacement for modulation in the synth
But I guess we don't understand each other well. There are many more options available to achieve what you want, I just named the obvious ones. I understand that it is easier to have these options in the softsynth integrated, but it is actually not very difficult to use external tools, be it hardware or software, to achieve what one wants.[/quote]

Yes, automation is monophonic... except for something like note expression in Bitwig or Cubase. Otherwise regular automation is global and affects all sounding voices at the same time and not per voice.Phil999 wrote:I don't see the point - automation of a parameter in a polyphonic synth is not monophonic ...pdxindy wrote: Automation is monophonic... so it is not always a good replacement for modulation in the synth

I want the Modulation as part of the patches so I can share them.Phil999 wrote: If you want something, you can do it. In my view, realtime MIDI control and DAW automation is not a workaround, it's common procedure.
I plan on uploading some patches here when I get more done..........

Exactly. DAW automation would never work for actually playing of a synth due to re-trigger issues.pdxindy wrote: Automation is monophonic... so it is not always a good replacement for modulation in the synth
I think sometimes people either forget you can actually play synths like the musical instruments they are or those people don't own a controller keyboard. I've spent many joyous hours just playing synths with no desire to record the results. Just for the pure joy of playing and DIVA is one of the most enjoyable synths in my arsenal to play.

I want to apologise for my behaviour and the double posts. I had some kind of blackout yesterday, instead of editing my message I hit the quote button - and I was on a different path of thinking. Very embarrassing.

No apologies necessary, Phil999. We all write "doh"-worthy stuff now and again (the older I get, the more that happens).
