Interesting: it was asked in the Cubasis forum, how the plans about AU are. It seems that it is not even clear yet that Steinberg is gonna support it at all?

Well now apple have put it in GarageBand eventually maybe we will see A few more AU versions of stuff.

YEAH, very cool, BUT: This is how it is described
- Use third-party instrument apps in your song with Audio Unit Extensions***.

Does that mean it is only implemented for instrument apps, not for effect apps?????

As of today, Cubasis supports AU extensions. I was able to add iSEM to two separate tracks, with different presets on each one. I'm going to play around with that functionality a bit more this weekend.

Now if we can just convince the developers of some of these other synths I bought (Sunrizer, Cassini, FunkBox, bs-16i, etc.) to start supporting AU...

so it is time to upgrade my iPad to iOS9 soon.
Hope the major issues with music on iOS are handled by now?

Did anyone else find something new for Audio Units?

We've had Audio Units plugins on Mac for years. AU for iOS is relatively new and is just now being built into DAW apps, synth apps, and FX apps for iPad. The confusion probably comes from both formats having the same name.

GarageBand and Cubasis are the only AU hosts I know of for iOS, and only a few synth and FX apps are AU-capable now, though I suspect a lot more apps will have AU support by Xmas time.

Multi Track Studio was the 1st AU host.

AUM is the latest host

Midi steps can also host AUs

Well, the small number of AU synths for iOS is a riddle to me.
What's up with Animoog, Synthmaster, Sampletank, Amplitube and the like? Are they fearing loss of sales of their desktop software?
Or is it just more work to get support of Audio Units runnig and it just takes a little more time?

The first audio Units host und the first AU plugin (plus list of existing ones)
