Update on MIDI problem

It's fixed... for now

As for the buzzing, mine buzzes like a MF when my laptop's running on mains but is as quiet as a West Ham Fan at the Play-Off final when on batteries. My conclusion... some kind of ground loop.

Earth -> Laptop -> UA20 -> Mixer -> Earth

Possible solutions

New double insulated powerpack for laptop (can you believe Compaq want £65 ???)

Don't bother earthing the laptop (apparently ill advised)

Use the optical output from the UA20 (which my mixer doesn't accept)

Only work for 1 hour at a time

Buy ground loop isolator - any feedback on how these things perform woudl be good
