Resynthesis please... like in Image Line Harmor. From samples to pictures, it would be AMAZING.
That's the only thing I think synthmaster needs to be perfect.

I'm also waiting for Reaper on Linux, and having some more money to buy at least Hive and Redux - although getting Bitwig would also be cool, it's a bit expensive for me.

Back on topic, the wait will be worth it, it always is.
bitwig too expensive, couple of options if you are short on cash.
1) you could try running reaper using wine on your preferred Linux distro.

2) try ardour,( native Linux DAW and is highly rated by its users ) or you could, at a pinch, try LMMS ( poor mans fruity loops ).

Tracktion Waveform runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux (even on Raspberry Pi). I'm using it on Windows and it's a cool DAW. It's very affordable. starting at $99.

A little suggestion. how about implementing a modular subsystem similar to mutools mux, that way anyone who fancies concocting their own synths can have a go at getting their hands dirty.

Oh and while I'm at it, the GUI editor needs some serious tlc. :)

That's an interesting idea! Maybe the devs can work on a design for a modular synth after the SM3 release.

I'm guessing that the Synthmaster 2 semi-modular architecture would have to be redesigned from the ground up to become a modular system.

My understanding of SM3 is that it will be a revised, expanded version of SM2, but not a completely new synth.

Meanwhile, here are a few other modulars to play around with.

had a look at a few of them. tassman is stalled at v4 for some now, vaz modular, its not known even if development is continuing( changes in cross border tax arrangements between the UK and EU ( circa 2015). where cited on the vaz modular web web site).

Wavesequencing ala Korg Wavestation would be nice.

Have you tried playing with the Wavetable oscillator in SM 2.8?

This is not exactly the same, but can be an interesting simulation. It would be cool if SM3 has a step sequencer where you can assign different waves to each step, then allows you to setup durations and crossfades between steps as a note plays.

"Wavetable oscillator is similar to basic
oscillator, except that the waveform can
be scanned (interpolated) in between 16
different waveforms shapes."

Load up your choice of waves in the 16 slots. The position of the waveform can be adjusted using the wave index knob.

Then assign an x-y pad axis as a modulation source for the wave index knob, to scan through the 16 waves. I find that setting the mod wheel via midi learn to control the x-y pad axis to be instant gratification!

Of course, you can go wild with any modulation source that you wish! :D
