Normally you´ll get a reduced upgrade price (-30 % or so). You have to contact Magix for this.anfmusic wrote:I'm not sure this warrants the upgrade price of $69

I agree. 2005 is a US release of the european 2004 version in Europe. It looks identical.AndreasE wrote:The included Midi Studio is again based on Logic Audio with all its problems with new VSTis which often doesn´t support Logic anymore.Magix would better have gone new ways.
With Samplitude 8 coming out in September this year with significant upgrades to the midi funtionality of the program, I think Musicstudio 2005 (the European version) will be released Nov / Dec this year and expect that vesrion to have the version 8 engine and maybe a complete move away from the ageing Logic engine (midi studio).
It is strange that Magix release the European version first but give it a different date to the US version!
Musicstudio 2004 was released late last year and the US version...Musicstudio 2005 is now released. The prodcuts are identical.
I really hope the next European release Musicstudio 2005 later this year will have the piano roll, and midi editing features avaialble in Samplitude 7 professional.
Musicstudio 2004 (Europe) already uses the v.7 engine.I am pretty sure that the 2005 European release will have the v.8 engine less Logic.

I´m not sure, but I think that Magix Music Maker 2004 already has the midi editing features available in Samplitude 7 professional.christianmusicmaker wrote:I really hope the next European release Musicstudio 2005 later this year will have the piano roll, and midi editing features avaialble in Samplitude 7 professional.

Magix way of naming stuff is confusing to say the least. I reviewed Magix Music Studio Deluxe 2004 for a swedish music magazine. Since sweden is part of scandinavia which is part of europe i read through the british website thinking it was likely the most up to date site. However while running the program it turns out a bunch of features are missing. After having contacted Magix distributor a few times through the editor i finally got an email address for a german magix guy. He then told me that the scandinavian Magix Music Studio Deluxe 2004 is in fact the American Magix Music Studio Deluxe 2004 and the European 2003. So oddly enough sweden, in europe has the american version which has the same name as the european version but with different features.

Another example: The european Music Maker 2004 (standard version, NOT deluxe) is equal to the american Music Maker 2005 deluxe.

I'm still wondering whic is the better deal: Cubase SE or Music Studio Deluxe 2005.... 2005 comes with a ton of stuff to get started with and is cheaper, but I want more than 12 vsti in a project; Plus that logic interface is a bit hard to fathom for me. And I want to use a mac one day so Cubase SE works on both PC/Mac.
Confusion, confusion...
Confusion, confusion...

Anopenscroll, you could get EnergyXT and run it as a VST plug-in within Magix Music Studio. Then you'll have no limitations on the number of VST Instruments you can run!

I'm confused. _o/
I still consider buying Music Studio 2004/2005 for Audio Studio. But I'm afraid I'll get V7 which I already own (:
I never realised how much attention consumers have to pay nowadays. Oh, the times..
