Just thinking this through to it's logical conclusion... (a mistake, I know) 
Wouldn't you also want your DAW to model analog CV behavior for automation? Input/output impedance should be modeled on both ends, right? Perhaps MIDI should be converted to virtual CV before hitting the instrument. We wouldn't want any digital control signal souring our pure "analog" experience.
