So drums are not considered instruments? Hmmm, interesting. But okay, whatever.

I'm still against using samples as FX. Want to mangle your vocals? Cool. Put your drums through a blender? Great. Play a 5 second wav file of a waves crashing into the shoreline? Sorry, that's where I draw the line.

Okay, here is why, if you allow this, you might as well just toss out the "Only synth you can use is Synthmaster" rule.

I have Omnisphere. I've got this really cool soundscape that I want to use in the song but I can't use Omnisphere. Sooooo...I record the soundscape onto a wav file and stick the wav file into the song where I want it to go. Bingo, instant Omnisphere soundscape in a Synthmaster song contest. It's ridiculous.

Hope I've made my point.

Because it opens up the door for massive amounts of cheating to where he who has the most toys wins. That's not what this is supposed to be about.

It's not up to me but I would hope Bulent will agree with me which I am sure he will.

I consider both drums and vocals to be external instruments, but the rules have given the nod to both. Guitar seems to be where a line is drawn. I can work within a limited framework, just want clarity

For what it's worth, I doubt there is any possibility of using any samples for stings, risers, transitions etc, but I am still unclear as to the level of mangling allowed for Synthmasters own sounds

- speaking of drums, percussion (like a shaker or bongo loop etc) can also be added?
- what does "external effects" mean here? can we add SFX samples like whooshes, risers, crashes/hits/impacts etc?

Regarding external effects, we meant audio effects/effect plugins

Regarding drums, yes you can use percussion/loops.

Sounds intresting!! Maybe i can get another Synthmaster song hopefully into the top 3 ..... last years 11th placing was not bad... BUT NOT GOOD either
