This is driving me crazy. I would consider this as a serious bug. Not an omission. It is a nightmare mixing with tracktion while you have to solo each track inside a submix.DavidPardy wrote: Also, if I solo a track within a submix, it really needs to automatically solo the submix track as well.
tracktion 8 hints???

Ah, clues!
So what do we make of that?
There's an icon in the top right to change to mixer mode, and there are several different views of it, set on the right hand side.
Could the MIDI allow a template of notes to be rejigged to follow chord changes?
If the Raspberry Pi is supported (though that could be the Linux T8), perhaps other platforms might be too.
New DAW Essentials and newish Biotek, as expected.
WaveForm and WaveRazor?

Oh crap a mixer
Some performance improvements and regular updates would be more preferable.

yeah a mixer is not for me but if it gets them more money that's a good thing. Working video on the other hand would be great.aMUSEd wrote:Oh crap a mixer

Kudos for the mixer. It was long overdue for serious complex mixing. I also hope that the pianoroll is bigger since working with midi is cumbersome in its present form. I also see there is a chord progression track or something similar. Above all, I hope they didn't forget the small refinements and workflow improvements.

Performance is the biggy, T7 is glitchy compared to my other hosts at the same buffer sizes (so much so I've stopped using it with some plugins)

Here's an answer to the Waverazor question. Not sure yet why it was in a TSC video.

I think that was my response too.aMUSEd wrote:Oh crap a mixer
Sad that after over a decade of championing this "new paradigm" that T now has a mixer that makes it all look very simplistic and... amateurish? Whatever, I guess you don't have to use it, I never use the mixer in Reaper mainly thanks to being weaned off one by Tracktion...

We all have our opinions about the mixer, but personally, I think that extremes are bad, regardless on which side they appear. Tracktion was kinda revolutionary over a decade ago not because it didn't have a mixer, but because it removed all the clutter and windows mess that most other daw's had in that time and presented itself with a clean one window concept.
This concept lacks IMHO on two sides: one is the mixer and the other one is the missing piano roll. It got better with T7 because there is a shortcut to make the track height bigger, but it is still far from perfect and often I'd like to see as much of the piano roll as possible within a simple command.
Regarding the missing mixer so far, here are some of things that are not really a positive example of a good workflow. When I'm mixing on my 24" monitor, I often have to look to the left side, to identify which track am I working on, than I have to follow that track all to the right where the filters are. On a small screen you may be able to see it at once but on a bigger screen it can really be tedious to mix in the present one window approach. Further, there is no visual feedback at all in its present form about the status of the levels and the faders. I don't know what my levels are set because you can't read it from the fader, nor do I know what the levels are. Nor are they aligned because you may have a different number of active filters.
At the end, the goal should be to make a daw as easy to use as possible. Not to force anybody to a new view about old and well established habits. If I saw it right in the youtube video, the mixer screen is an option, not a must. So, we have the best from both world. Those who like it, will be happy, those who don't, they don't need to use it anyway.
