They're not talking until NAMM, but they do say they will have something talk about. Most companies provide a grace period, where recent purchasers can upgrade for free.

Don't buy Bitwig now, it's hopeless. Pretend it doesn't exist and come back in 3 years, maybe something will have happened.antic604 wrote:A bit off-topic, but maybe not - I'm considering buying a license very soon (like this week), so my question is what's the chance of significant (paid) update being released very soon? I'd hate to spend EUR300 just to find out in two week that I need to spend some more to be up to date.
I understand that all releases up to (but excluding) 2.0 should be free if I buy now, right?

I say buy it. I have never produced as fast as I do in bitwig. its so easy and intuitive to use and most of the stock plugins (except the reverb) sounds really good.Munin wrote:Don't buy Bitwig now, it's hopeless. I'm not so sure about the last sentence. I don't recall an official statement like that.antic604 wrote:A bit off-topic, but maybe not - I'm considering buying a license very soon (like this week), so my question is what's the chance of significant (paid) update being released very soon? If you can wait the two weeks to NAMM, do so. If the value you are going to get from it during those two weeks is worth taking the risk, buy it.
IMHO, you would be within any reasonable grace period even if there were a paid update, so I think your risk is minimal.

Antic yes there is a chance they reveal version 2.0, wait for namm convent. For upgrades like x.0 they take payment, but not for 1.x updates.Munin wrote:Don't buy Bitwig now, it's hopeless. Munin they dont pretend it doesn't exist. Its been one year that have been quite but i know they work on 2.0 and thats probably a big big reason, before that they updated so frequently. Because of 2.0 devolopement I Think small updates havent occured so frequintly or almost on hault. I dont know if there will be revealed a bitwig 2.0 or not at namm but my hopes are high for it. Anyway keep using other daws if its bothersome to wait no need throw call it hopeless, there are full time musicians that makes a living of using bitwig in their daily process. bitwig got more than one listed at their site. Depends on what you are after if its vocal recording nor bitwig, fl studio or ableton is really charming to use. Fades in fl studio is still horrible so in bitwig. But havent stopped people from producing masterpiece and not all people use fades as part of their workflow. hopefuly we se a big upgrade list for 2.0, i just hope we get a chance to see it at namm 2017

yes but they didnt think it would take that long, they got some timetaking issues that was unspected it was suppose to release not to long after namm version 1.2. Lets hope the upgrade wont take as long but we´ll seesvervs wrote:There's no official statement on 2.0. But taking into account that the public beta phase for 1.2 was about 4 month long, I'd guess we are still minimum half a year away from 2.0.antic604 wrote:A bit off-topic, but maybe not - I'm considering buying a license very soon (like this week), so my question is what's the chance of significant (paid) update being released very soon? I got the same problem and i wrote an email to the sales team of bitwig:antic604 wrote:A bit off-topic, but maybe not - I'm considering buying a license very soon (like this week), so my question is what's the chance of significant (paid) update being released very soon? I bought my licence yesterday and i dont regret it.... I fully understand your concern. We currently do not have any official information regarding the next big release, so I cannot give you much information. What I can do though is tell you we will have what's called a grace period, meaning anyone buying the current version will get the next upgrade for free. Although there is no official release date yet, I can confirm you don't need to worry!...

Good grief!!! Yes, of course there will be a new major update and if you have $100, bet it that it will be announced at NAMM.
