I am not so sure a subtractive synth is ideal for that kind of music to begin with. It's supposed to sound cold

With Sylenth and Spire already in my plugin folder I have no usage for Hive. I don't need another Sylenth1 synth (and to be honest I don't like the sound).
Anyway, U-He has always this intro/beta deals with a big discount. That's all and with my knowledge there are no other special deals.
Ok, I saw sometimes that Hive was sold by users, so this is the other option for a better price after the official release.

Hive...the synth created by the team at U-he, is the greatest synth ever made in the history of synths.
There is no greater synthesizer on the planet.

so i have sylenth 1 and i know it's in the same ball park but sounds diferent enough and more interesting to the kind of sounds i make and most importantly... it seems to complement/interact with the FX i have gathered over the years much better!![]()
the same reason i'm selling U-He uhbik, other options work better in my workflow
i don't have spire; i was demoing both around the same time but prefer Hive TBH....
You can think of it this way. Sylenth is more exact, cleaner, open, and more of an oberheim as opposed to prophet.
Hive would be the opposite. Dirtier, brassier, more prophet than oberheim. IMO Hive is much more analog. I've own dirty analogs though. Sylenth is still the king of trance though.

I love Hive and I have several other synths that fill the same niche.....Dune 2, Sylenth 1, Z3ta+2 etc.
It's a ton of fun to program and I like the ability to record into the sequencer.
Do you need Hive ? What am I your Mother ?
But seriously you're trying the demo so only you can say what you need or want........

Yep, Hive is not the "everyone" synth it was supposed to be. I'll be honest with everyone and say I'm just not sure Urs and the team have that in them. That takes a certain finesse to reach down and grab the masses. It's not easy. U-he is very much a quality first kind of company. Sometimes to grab the masses you have to give up some of your pride. That takes a very long time to learn for prideful, smart people. Urs is of the old school mind set even though he is a very young man. It's extremely difficult for that type of personality to let go of their pride. He isn't there yet. I'm not sure he ever will be. I am so glad he tried though because it gave us something that was practically tailor made for me personally.

I'm pretty sure that Zebra 2 has "grabbed the masses".

I read that early Oberheims were also rather bright. But I don't think an Oberheim sounds less analog than a Prophet 5. Oberheims are also famous for brass sounds. I don't see the analog - dirty association, frankly.Dasheesh wrote:You can think of it this way. Sylenth is more exact, cleaner, open, and more of an oberheim as opposed to prophet.

I think neither Hive nor Sylenth1 sounds convincing out of the box. One has to use the equalizer to make them sound good. With Sylenth1 merely switching the EQ on (i.e. all 4 controls set to noon) already makes a big difference. Let alone dialing in custom eq settings.

You do realize how long it took zebra to get to that point right? It's on every ones lips because it's been around the longest. HIve was meant for instant success. It's still not finished. U-he will keep squeezing Juice out of it... and it is one juicy pulpy piece. It's the sweet juice that makes it addictive.

It's obvious that Urs has the finesse to "reach down and grab the masses" since Zebra and DIVA and been quite popular with the masses since the day they were released.Dasheesh wrote: I'm just not sure Urs and the team have that in them. No offense meant, but, would you suggest to someone who owns a Moog synthesizer, that, because he owns a Moog, he won't need a Oberheim synthesizer? IMO, Hive and Sylenth1 are different enough to make a consideration based on the sound of the soft synth. Which, admittedly, can only be done by the OP, so i'm not sure about the general point of this TBH.egbert101 wrote: If you have Sylenth1, then no you don't need it.

I'm sorry, but this just sounds like baseless nonsense. U-he are one of the more successful companies in the industry, and one of the most respected. Your assertions are without evidence.Dasheesh wrote:Teksonik wrote:I'm pretty sure that Zebra 2 has "grabbed the masses".
