Part of it has to do with some of them already having bought the update, or maybe uncertainty about the future of Bitwig I guess, as some of the posts indicate. I do kind of agree with the logic that it would be way too soon for them to offer it right now, so maybe in a few months or a year the number of people choosing yes would increase. Another part of that number is probably just people who voted without reading. The number of "no" votes stood at 11 before I edited my OP, and I don't know how many people voting since then actually read it.

My no vote meant that I felt this line of reasoning was silly, especially trying to tell them how much to charge. The subscription model seems designed to give Bitwig a steady flow of income and a lifetime-updates model is the exact opposite. They know more about their business needs than we do, and while I don't love the new pricing model, I love the software enough to go along with it. I'm almost to the point where I'll embrace the subscription model as a counter-protest.
