They've got various good looking procedural GUI's all coded by Chris Randall. I don't think it's a matter of not knowing how, but rather wanting it to look like that.
There you go, I was aware they've switched to procedural but was making a point it looks butt shot bordering upon amatuerish.

Still a slamming comp though

Seems likely that v2 of RR Pro is on the way 8)

Not really, the similarities are superficial. Valhalla designs are based on a much more consistent design aesthetic, this is a bit of a mishmash (not hugely against it tbh but it isn't particularly harmonious).
I'd call that a distinction without a difference. But, I'm not here to argue.

these days I care more about smooth, 1:1 movement in relation with my Kore knob rotation than a pretty looking interface, and this new gui style by AD delivers the goods splendidly.

unlike a certain very high-budget company that makes amazing, realistic visuals for their plugins in exchange for laggy and jaggy knob movement.

Good, thought it was just me who though the UI was a bit meh

EDIT: ...to be fair, if it still sounds good (and I'll keep v1 of course), then I suppose it's fine

Sounds much different than the first RR?

They say they just changes the GUI and added VST3 and aax. That suggests the dsp side is still the same...

Muuuuuch more I wish they would release a new version of their wonderful tattoo drum station.

And... I like it. :o Low CPU usage, no latency, VST3 and better, more informative GUI.

Thank you, Audio Damage!

Thanks for the update.

From what I recall, they always meant this to a be "set with your ears, not with your eyes" design, which is why there's no scale on the GR meter either.

Either that, or you need to pay real money for the Pro version and get numbers on the scales (as well as multiband operation).

Love the new GUI!

I'm happy with it. Not as "jazzy" looking as v.1 but easier to read imho. Still sounds great on breaks.

Oh, nice! I adored Rough Rider, but rarely used it for drums as seems to be the specialty. I loved its ability to crunch up pads more than anything else. It could turn glassy smoothness into fat, grungy power with ease. I never had any qualms with the excessive high roll off as others did, as I was rarely using it in a context where preserving delicate highs was a concern.

I bought Rough Rider Pro but never ended up installing it. I'm not really big on multiband compression and I'd want something significantly less coloured if I ever go there, but I bought it more as a 'thank you' for Rough Rider.

RR has since fallen out of my plugin list after acquiring a few other compressors that can sound really nasty (DC8C in particular), but this is a great excuse to take it for another spin. And hey, might as well install RR Pro while I'm at it!
