For the record: Ranting grandpa is a current user who even sent them his Push1 for their trade-thingy directed at schools and the like.

For 199 crackers they ask for the upgrade from 'suite' to 'suite' one should not be forced to dl their holy code from a forum hidden deep down somewhere in the fancy net.

Huh, I'm starting a rant ... *yoga recommendation*
Its probably a deliberate filter to minimize support requests for a beta where the problem is user error vs actual bugs (which is what they're attempting to identify through a public beta).

Not really getting the idea of what a beta test version is?
Set Theory claim:

Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

Sure, but the defining point is: They already sell it. The beta. The program (app, if you like). In its naked, obviously unborn, prenatal condition. Some people are allowed to test it, some are not. Payment, though, is welcome from anyone.

I'm afraid, I don't get it. But for sure am open for insights.

They do not sell the Beta, they offer users to help test before release.

That is entirely up to them if they do or not.

No. The beta of Live 10 is not being sold. The upgrade to Live 10 is available for pre-order, but that is not the beta, and the beta is not that.

The beta is not being restricted only to those who have already prepaid for Live 10. Paying for Live 10 is not the path to accessing the beta. The beta download is not a way of to obtaining your pre-order.

The beta is a pre-release version intended for a wide pool of volunteer users to test it, and to report back issues to the developer, before the product is made available for sale. The beta of Live is not a product for sale.

Live 10 can be pre-ordered, but it is made clear that it is a pre-order, that the final product you would be paying for is not on sale. Hence the 'pre' prefix in the first place.

The availability of a beta test version before your pre-ordered version is properly available does not actually mean that you are somehow being forced to access the beta version to get your product. You'll get your product when its available.

If you want to beta test in the meantime, you can do so, but given that you dont know what a beta test is, please dont.

whyterabbit, I would have signed your post word by word, letter by letter, but the last sentence made me step back from it.

Im not sure what you mean by that, but a beta test is not guaranteed working software, quite the opposite; the point of it existing is for people to identify the bugs in it.
If someone is going to download that in the belief that its a full version that they've paid for, then they're almost certainly going to be in for an unpleasant surprise, and a certain degree of frustration.

If you didn't want warned of that, then my apologies.

Taking into account that you usually and most reliable reflect about the things you're saying I can only assume we're having a (non-important) misunderstanding here.

IF you pre-order you get a small discount on the finished software. The beta isn't the finished software. You can't rely on it, some things might change with the finished product. The beta is just really a test version for you to try out and report anything.

I signed up on the beta and I'll be able to test it without pre-ordering it. 2 different things really. When the last beta expires, that's it. I'll have to upgrade from 9 to 10. I was already in the beta centercode from last year so I'll probably get in fast. (I hope though)

You can get the beta if you are a Live 9 standard or suite owner, no need to preorder.

Probably to get you hooked up.

already hooked hahaha. Seriously, I like the nice little workflow improvements they have made. I'm curious to see how fast max4live is when loading new devices also and the whole integration.

Umm lol no it's not to hook you up it's for what it is for. A public beta. You can participate or you can decide to NOT participate. As simple as that. Once when it is released you will have 30 day fully featured trial.

Gosh these days people will make up anything just to tell the story.

Do you betatest? Are you able to load new m4l devices? Do they load faster? Are (example) Dub Machines faster in Live 10? Can anyone tell that?
