I agree. It is the best neutral sounding EQ I've ever worked with.

Same here. But above all its GUI does wonders for me. I’m a visual-aural kinda guy and FabFilter’s plugins allow me to see what I hear before I hear it, if that makes sense.
So, for non-emu mixing, FabFilter rules.

to me any graphic eq can easily make you see what your gonna hear.

ProQ-2 is just awesome. I can't say it's the "best".. I haven't tried Equilibrium and it looks to have more features and as good (if not better, according to many reports) filter quality - but you really can't got wrong with Pro-Q 2. Natural Phase mode is wonderful and the CPU use is insanely minimal but best of all the interface is really quick and smooth to use.

For non-transparent "colour EQ" I love the Elysia Museq especially and a few others like Voxengo HarmoniEQ, Boz Hoser etc.

My 2c: Pro-Q2 is my go-to for surgical, transparent EQ since it has by far the best EQ interface out there. For me, EQuilibrium looks ugly and confusing in comparison. And for that kind of work, it's all about having a clear, slick UI as long as there's nothing wrong with the sound. Also like already said, it uses practically no CPU with modern processors.

If I want some character, I'll go with SlickEQ, and for dynamic EQ it's Nova. Can't beat the sound at that price.

In a word no. 99% of digital eq's sound exactly the same so it becomes all about the interface and the functionality. I've never liked FF's guis so for me it's a definite no.

This. Either you like the UI or you don't, it really comes to that unless you're looking for a specific emulated saturation sound or something.

I think Equilibrium is awesome all around EQ and you can setup it up to suit your needs, but personally I prefer Equalize, never really clicked with ProQ for some reason, DMG stuff appeals to me more visually like Equick, you can also setup Equilibrium to look the same as Equick.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Pro Q has a great sound and the best workflow imo. Eazy on the CPU too...

Thx a lot guys.

Wow. EQuilibrium seems really nice too. Maybe even neats q2 what i read so far. Even the sound many say is even better.

I have to demo both when im back and see how the handling is from EQuilibrium compared to q2 and if it misses anything what q2 features. If not i might go with EQuilibrium cause the pitchkeyboard is really nice and the sifferent modelemulations. Hopefully the pre-listening solo bands is possible with a mouseklick hold down and triggered.

Pro-Q2 can switch between hertz and keyboard view, just not shown by default :)

EQuilibrium probably does sound a touch better. But the workflow for Pro Q is fantastic. That's why I sold EQuilibrium and just stuck with the Fabfilter. Yu can't go wrong with either tbh.

Shit, forget about how it sounds. I really doubt there's much difference there.
It's a surgical eq that can do a hole range of other shit like capturing frequencies of other tracks so you can also use it to mask frequencies that compete because it has sidechain and low latency.
