How did you download it? I have logged into my account and I can only see al lot of version 8 in my possible downloads. Where is the beta file?
I have just had a look, and it is in "My Downloadable Products".

Are you a Tracktion 8 or Waveform user ?

I have a Waveform licence,so maybe its not showing up for Tracktion 8 users ?

I've only used it for a couple minutes, but I can already tell you it feels "snappier". Best example: scanning for plugins. If this is in large part a result of dropping 32bit, I can say that I wish it'd happened long ago :D

EDIT: I also like the new icon direction with the more visible "W".

First impression after some hours of (not very intensive) tryout:

- first crash after 5 minutes with the new rack view was the only one so far (but I have not touched it again)

- I love the new chord track so I not really have get it (possibilities/how to use best) in total right now I would think. But it helps enormously for working with the midi patterns and not to get lost with changes in these clips. :tu:
Request: possibility to name the chord track parts/clips (Verse, chorus....)

- I love the new modifier :tu: . This is really intuitive to use and a great help. Hope it really works that easy it looks on first tryout.

- I wont judge that so far but on very first look before crashing the new rack view did not look that impressive and intuitive as expected, but of course would need time to look into that more in deep (and I must admit I have never really got into the rack concept and mostly used midi/instruments/effects one after another on each track cause that - for me - is still one of the main advantages of Tracktion from beginning: that you could do this without any worries about connections)

- what I am really missing is some further improvements on the midi pattern generators, for example some more and some more structured (for example style-based) and really patterntype (chord/arp/base/melody) orientated presets (there are still thes same then in first version of it - 8 beta !, still some are the same for bass and chord...) and some helpful functions like arrow for next preset, random rests for chords/arps/melody, generally improvement of melody creation etc.

- on first look not really sure if it will be worth the new buy (cause you have to buy evry version of Tracktion new at least, there is no real update/upgrade) for the chord track and the modifier, maybe, after all that trouble with wf 8 if this time there will be a special upgrade price/intro offer

Not understanding this; before W8 the upgrade amount was $30 (or $29.95) for several years. To W8 it was $49.95. You can skip updates and still pay a single upgrade price to get to the latest version.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

Think I paid $60 to upgrade the last couple versions. They also seem to be on a yearly schedule.

I have just found out by trial and error that the link to the file is the same as the other directories on the tracktion page but with number 9 last instead of 8. If anybody else is missing the link try that.

Something has happened wrong. $60 was the full price, not the upgrade price. I paid $30 for T4, T5, T6, T7, and $50 for W8. Did you use a different account or something?

New versions come out around February/March each year.

Nope, only 1 account. I can’t check atm, but I will later. I bought them on day one, pretty sure. Anyway, I’ll have a look, fairly certain they were all upgrades though, that’s not a mistake I’d be likely to make.

*Of course, a problem with my recollection is definitely possible. :D

chico.co.uk wrote:It's a beta. Bugs are not "annoying", they're expected. If that's not okay, wait till it's long out of beta before using new software. Assume you've emailed that melody remapping issue to support@tracktion.com if you want it fixed, as requested?
No, because this is something i have been reporting till Waveform first version. It seems that this is not a bug but a feature.
Sometimes ive got very subtle melody and there is a hundred of ways how to make Waveform delete it (clear the pattern). In the moment i notice it it is usually too late.
And undo is not 100%. Sometimes i press DEL on my keyboard because i am used to it from other DAWS. And it deletes something and undo wont return it.
So there is no reason to sending a log to that email IMHO but maybe we should discuss how the melody should update itself. And how to make waveform less mutable :-D.
Apologies, I was in a bad mood after a long day at work asking people to do specific things to fix something, and them doing random other things, then reporting it was still broken. Think I jumped in with both feet a bit, as a result. My fault, sorry.

This isn't the place for "I don't know how to do this, so I'm going to moan that it can't be done", it's a beta testing thread, but you've been able to do this for years in Tracktion, although it's not very obvious, or intuitive.

Go to the Settings tab, Midi Devices, and click "Create new Virtual Midi Input". Call it whatever, let's say "Test". Click on the new "Test" input in the list. In the properties for the Test input, click on "Select Midi Inputs", and assign whichever hardware keyboard or controller you want associated with that.

Repeat for however many midi inputs you want to use simultaneously on multiple tracks. You can set them to use different midi channels, if that's what you send from your keyboard, to seperate key zones, or whatever.

Assign the new midi inputs to as many multiple tracks as you like, when you're recording.

Please post separate threads for things you want to do, but don't think you can.

Ok thanks, you are correct, I was looking at the wrong receipt apparently...

No worries. I'm assuming it'll be $50 from now on. I can forgive them for one price rise in 6 or 7 years!

I posted a thread about this in April.....

viewtopic.php?f=22&t=483054&p=6758660#p6758660

I have tried all sorts of things to arm just the selected track, including selecting midi channels on my keyboards, but alas, all the tracks play at the same time. The work around is to solo a track which is obviously silly.

And even if it is possible to do this in Waveform, it is still far harder than say Live,in which I have a template with vsts assigned to seperate tracks that boots at startup.

The tracks are auto armed, and I select a track, play that vst,and hit record if I want to. To select a track in Live requires using the PC keyboard up-down arrows. Its intuitive and simple. Its much the same in most other Daws as well.

As regards it being a beta thread, yes,of course you are right, but I thought I would just nudge my request from last April as it has yet (if ever) to be implemented. Personally,I have no use for new wizzy gizmo samplers and would much rather time be used to make Waveform more intuitive.

Anyway, thanks for your help,it is much appreciated.

Goodness, I do believe that I have found the answer to my problem.

In the midi filter you have to deselect whatever midi channel you do not want to play by greying them out.

I have been trying to select the midi channel I want by selecting it white.

Now I can set up an 8 track template with vsts assigned and use my midi keyboard to select tracks.

Why are presets for Reaktor ensembles exportable but not presets for plugins?
