Still missing basic host stuff like being able to save presets in plugin's native format

Everyone gets distracted by the new shiny but it's this lack of basic functionality that keeps me from working entirely in Bitwig.

Hmmm, probably also worth considering is that Bitwig is a lot more of a full DAW than Live and many people may not using clips at all to write tracks or play live. After all, Live is pretty much 100% based on writing with clips (I cant see anyone choosing it for its arrangement view only), Bitwig boots as standard to a linier view for recording looking much like Logic or S1 etc.nsq wrote:Probably only former Live users can know how useful it is.J-909 wrote:How the hell can legato clips be one of the least chosen?![]()

Where are producers??
In many ways this is the issue with trying to develop something for both camps! Clip guys want legato, automation etc, linier guys want comping, better midi handling, editing etc.
Its like developing 2 DAWS at once
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

All of them of course
but the next 2 things I would really like:
1 - Visual scripting of controllers for no programmers, like myself. And a continual of improvements to the scripting abilities. Plus better support for developers.
2 - Higher quality and diversity of devices and sound content (specially the sampler and multi samples f real instruments).

FL guys would like proper piano-roll, so it's 3 DAWs (check the voting)SLiC wrote:Hmmm, probably also worth considering is that Bitwig is a lot more of a full DAW than Live and many people may not using clips at all to write tracks or play live. I'd like to see the Sampler improved a bit, something along the lines of Serato Sample and Ableton Simpler...no need to go overboard here. Slicing to begin with and able to use those new stretch algos.

I agree but one thing doesn't compete with the other. You can have legato clips and the current arrangement view (which is obviously 100 times better than Live's).SLiC wrote:Hmmm, probably also worth considering is that Bitwig is a lot more of a full DAW than Live and many people may not using clips at all to write tracks or play live. My point is that clip launching without legato launch mode is just linear sequencing! (looping linear, but lineal romehow, just piece after piece). The point in a live setup is to PLAY live, and the clip arrangement is there to not have you playing the kick/drums/stuff constantly in electronic music.
I might make a thread for that

I'd pay a full upgrade price just to have Legato Clips.J-909 wrote:I agree but one thing doesn't compete with the other. I think it would make sense to ask, what we would like to see in v4, I can guess that the roadmap is drawn pretty far ahead already, and that they will stick to that
I have a strong guess that the new stretch algos will find their way into the sampler now that we have them. Personally I would like to see support for round robin (where does this term come from btw?), I think it can be faked with the selector and different instances of the sampler now, but proper support would be nice. And at some point SFZ or Soundfont support would be welcome, since the BW GUI for creating complex multisamples is very slow and awkward to work with. Or even automatic building of patches based on filenames like for example Alchemy had.

I voted for other on the poll. My wish list, roughly in order of importance..
1. Scratch pad for arrangement (Like in Studio One).
2. Play from mouse cursor position (Like in Ableton).
3. GPU powered GUI.
4. Colour coded automation lanes to match track colour.
5. Arrangement sections, so you can keep sections together in the arranger.
6. Projects to have built in file versioning, so no more need for Project1, Project1b, project1bz_12.

I'm familiar with Scratch Pads, therefore I wonder what's the advantage?craigtumps wrote:1. Scratch pad for arrangement (Like in Studio One).
I very often take vertical slice of my arrangement, turn it into a Scene and work on it in Clip Launcher (or Bitwig's split-view) and then put it back or not into the timeline. Is there any functionality Bitwig's missing there? I thought it's the other way around actually, ie. the Scratch Pads being a crippled replacement for Clip Launcher (or Session View in Live).
