Ableton Live 10 Suite. Worth upgrading?

Sorry, I meant I'm using Live 9 with the Live 8 skin (old habits you know...)thecontrolcentre wrote:There's a Live 9 theme included with 10 ...2ZrgE wrote:Don't like the new color scheme so I stay with 9...
No Live 8 skin with Live 10 AFAIK.
(The user made Live 8 skin for 10 I tested wasn't really spot on btw).

Not by default, by it's already available from users who also missed it.2ZrgE wrote:Sorry, I meant I'm using Live 9 with the Live 8 skin (old habits you know...)thecontrolcentre wrote:There's a Live 9 theme included with 10 ...2ZrgE wrote:Don't like the new color scheme so I stay with 9...

Yes. Live 10 loads old themes, just they were removed from deafault package for some reasonantic604 wrote:Not by default, by it's already available from users who also missed it.2ZrgE wrote:Sorry, I meant I'm using Live 9 with the Live 8 skin (old habits you know...)thecontrolcentre wrote:There's a Live 9 theme included with 10 ...2ZrgE wrote:Don't like the new color scheme so I stay with 9...

Yes, worth the upgrade if Ableton is your main daw.
The major difference I've noticed is how faster things are, this translates into more projects completed in shorter time. The reason is less frustration. Simple improvements like automation snapping to grid, being able to manipulate audio faster, the way automation selection works more intuitively in arrangement etc.
As a live 9 user these are things you use all the time so obviously these changes will be of benefit.
After a while the improvements are not that bigger deal because you forget how the workflow was in 9. but if you were to go back and try making a track in 9 you'd notice the different for sure. It's the same when you were in 9 and you just become accustomed to how things are and copped it on the chin, you wonder why the hell do I need an upgrade, I've gotten comfortable.
Everything runs faster in 10 and dats the big difference, forget about waveshaper and all the other stuff, it's about having that same comfort in a faster and less frustrating environment.

thanks, it seems thats what I wanted to hear
I started to get the taste of L10. All those slight difference is appearance and workflow are adding up. There is some more time for me to decide, but I'm aliitle more in favour of upgrading at the moment.
By the way, Wavetable Push integration is insane! Almost like a hardware synth.
I'd like to see successor to Analog in Live 10.1. Current synth cannot be taken seriously neither for its sound, nor for UI.

Just wondering, but... did anyone register Ableton Live Lite 10? Is there even such a thing, or, does it activate Live Lite 9 now, when i enter a registration code (which i got with my latest keyboard purchase)? It says Live Lite 9 on the card with the code, but, i know that on other keyboards, i just registered Live Lite, and got the current version every time.
Edit: Think i found the answer: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... ve-10-Lite
So, not out yet, will come after fall.

If I got a 50% off I would purchase in a heartbeat. Kind of strange I didn’t, since I upgraded every version since 1....

That is somewhat true, but I'm not abandoning Live. Because of Push which originally led me to Live 9. There is so such combo out there. Closest thing is Maschine, but I doubt you can produce a song start to finish there. Not everything is NKS compatible. And would probably still need DAW for a final mix down and maybe mastering.bundoo wrote:the editing in live is terrible
i get that many literally use it for live music but the lack of editing both in arrange and in clip view is a big downside
Edit:
I've managed to mix several projects with live drums, guitars, vocals and everything (track count ~30) for other bands on Live 9 and week ago on v10. Not only didn't I end up hating Ableton, in fact I quite liked the process. Maybe not the best dedicated mixing DAW, but Push is indispensable.
So best allrounder for me, I guess.
