Make mix of your tracks with tittle "best medieval music mix".
So yeah, just did the search and these channels are on top:

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

Twitter is a good suggestion because you can post actual links - I've never seen any transfer from Soundcloud to anything else. I tend to think Soundcloud has a negative effect - why go to Spotify / Youtube etc if Soundcloud is free and the person has already listened on SoundcloudVortifex wrote: Do you have a Twitter and Soundcloud? Self-promotion on those platforms could help to increase your overall web presence and bring more views to your channel.

... and don't forget to stick WTF? on the end of the title. It works every time.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

YouTube is becoming more and more like a regular TV network. They want total control. We can't have the peasantry running around on-line having opinions!!
The current mob of successful, independent "producers" who got in the door early get to stay, that is as long as they behave themselves and don't have opinions that clash with the almighty, all-knowing wisdom of Susan Wojcicki and her staff.
Everyone else, established or not, can f**k right off back to your Nazi bunker. YouTube shall now be a safe space for pacified, submissive peasants and their offspring.

i was assuming the work part for the videos was obvious and hopefully something he was already doing.
i could of course be wrong, so its probably for the best you mentioned it

Seems too little to consider yourself "political left", IMO. That may put you anywhere in the political spectrum.mediumaevum wrote: I regard myself to belong to the political left, I dislike Trump and I hate fascists and racists etc.

Make a cover of some well known song/piece - might bring some folks to you music as well.
In your genre then, of course.
I think bands like Gentle Giant or something, has a medieval tonality touch with modern approach in it.
I looked at Spotify for versions of Clockwork Orange theme etc and found loads of new artist/musicmakers with cool versions too.
Might work for YT as well.

Do a cover of something more popular. For example ... Rebecca Black's Friday ... Medieval Style.

In my experience it's very difficult for a niche music 'stand-alone' music channel to become succesful on Youtube (as long as you aren't Deadmau5 or the likes...) I tried that too, but music alone does not work if you are not already famous.mediumaevum wrote:My view count on my most recent tracks on youtube (for the last year) has dropped significantly.
I get virtually no views at all on my most recent tracks.
I make medieval-inspired music on my computer, and I've been told it is because it is such a narrow genre that very few people actually listen to such music.
But, and here's the interesting part: I'm not the only one making such music. If you type in "medieval music" in the search bar on youtube, what's the first result you get? You obviously don't get authentic medieval music. What you probably get is from a channel named Derek & Brandon Fiechter, a very similar channel to mine, and they have their recent uploads get more views instantly and instantly getting ranked first place on youtube search results.
So I am kindly asking here: What am I doing wrong? I am tagging my uploads. I do everything I can to remind people I exist. But it helps 0, zero uno none whatsoever.
Is there some feature on youtube I have missed? Do channels have pay youtube to have their recent tracks posted in the first results, or what is the matter?
Some things to consider: Upload DJ-mixes with your music genre regularily, every week at least. Of course in every mix, put one of your tracks. Do the same on Mixcloud/Soundcloud/Last.fm and what is the dernier crie atm (sorry don't know what term kids use these days..)
Do covers (said already). Interact with similar channels. Go Facebook. Go every other social media channel. Do tutorials now and then. Do other videos now and then.
Well you might notice: It becomes a full time job easily.
My second best advice: find a channel that promotes your kind of music and offer your stuff to them. I found one for my kind of music and I am happy with the view count of my music there (a thousand times more than on my own channel...)
